LeSCHea`S "RHyTHM & BeaTs"...

I`m gon` switch things up just a lil` with this post since it`s a bit on the R&B tip, but it`s definitely HiP HoP influenced so don`t worry....LoL, trust me you`ll be DiGG`n this album that Leschea dropped for us. To give those out there an idea of Leschea`s style/ sound I`d have to say it`s a NiCe blend of MC Lyte, Aaliyah (R.i.P.) & a lil` Mary J. Blige. She`s straight out of Brooklyn & got her foot in the door by hookin` up with Masta Ace & became a member of Masta Ace Incorporated before she stepped out on her own to drop this beautiful GeM of an album...

Some folkS consider this album to be more on the Neo~Soul side, but I`d have to disagree because not only are the beatS that producers DJ Megahurtz, Ase One (An alias Masta Ace used when he was recording with Masta Ace Inc.), Dirtman, Fabian Hamilton, Lord Finesse, Mister Cee & The King Of Chill provide HiP HoP influenced but so are Leschea`s lyricS & her in~ya`~face style. The album`s first single "How We Stay" has Leschea singin` about dress`N fly rockin` that 'baggy style' over an iLL beat that uses a familiar James Brown sample, think Biggie`s "Dreams". The 2nd single is my favorite track on the album, the `round~the~way love anthem "Fulton St."...

It`s kind of hard to choose the standout tracks because this whole album BaNGs, but here`s a few jointS that y`all should definitely peep "My Flow [Intro]" featuring fellow Masta Ace Inc. member Paula Perry, "U Know The Place", "How We Stay", "Let Me Sing It 2 U", "Fulton St.", "Hip Hop", "Let Me Know", "3 To 5" &.....ah fuck it, trust me just peep the entire album!!!

5. Let Me Sing It 2 U (6:10)
6. Fulton St. (5:05)
7. Let Me Know {ft. Ike Dirty} (4:21)
8. 3 To 5 (4:56)
9. All On You (4:42)

STiCK-uP KiDD`s "The LiFe Of A STiCK uP KiD VoL. 1"

Back in December I posted a lil` something on Tha Smugglaz` Benny Blacc, well today I`ve got a street album/ mixtape from the remaining half of Tha Smugglaz duo, Stick-Up Kidd. Some folkS out there may not be familiar with Sticky so I`ll do my best to give ya a lil` run down. Reppin` Jane & Finch just like his partner in rhyme Benny Blacc, Sticky flips them 'Reality Raps' with a hardened but emotional flow. He doesn`t take this Rap ish for a joke either, after being shot a total of 15 times (now that`s some fuckin` Robocop ish) he`s more focused on leaving his mark in the game & that`s one of honor...

Most katZ now~a~dayS would`ve used the shootings to inflate their street cred`s ego, but Sticky chooses not to. When he does speak on what happened he`s more reluctant than anything else, just peep what he said in a cover story for the newspaper The Toronto Sun. "It was like years ago, five, six years ago, November 11, 1998. I got shot four times." He pauses. "Then, the year after that, November 11 1999, I got shot 11 times." And that's all he says about it. Ask him if he knows who shot him, or why, and you'll get a flat 'No!!!' "It just made me take this rapping more seriously," Stick Up says. "I could've been gone two times but I'm still here, you know? God has me here for a reason. I think it's to do this rap music." So just do yourself a favor & peep this man`s music! If you DiGG some grimy ish with an emotional twist you won`t be disappointed...

Here`s a video for a track that`s not on this joint, Stick-Up Kidd`s "To The Top"...

HaPPy NeW YeaR...

Don`t know about y`all, but I`m sort of glad that 2008`s finally over & done with both for myself personally & for HiP HoP, but that`s all another story & I`m not really gon` CRaCK that one open....LoL, anyway I just wanted to wish y`all a HaPPY NeW YeaR! Thanks for y`all comments & visits, I truly appreciate `em. It`s nice to know that there`s some like~minded folks out there like myself....LoL, on another note if anyone out there is interested in contributing to the BLoG just holla. Now on with the music, enjoy...

HeaTHeR B`s "ETeRNaL AFFaiRs"...

Most folkS know of Heather B from her appearance on the MTV reality show "Real World" back in 1992, but she really began things as a part~time performer with Boogie Down Productions -- adding vocals to BDP`s "Sex & Violence" album (DoPe joint right there!!!). Shortly after her reality show gig Heather recorded "I Get Wreck" a 12 inch for Elektra Records in 1992 & a few years later she followed things up in 1995 with a 12 inch that she initially pressed on her own, but was later picked up by Pendulum Records. That 12 inch was the rugged "All Glocks Down", a track that`s featured on her 1996 debut album "Takin` Mine"...

Here`s the video for "I Get Wreck"...

Her debut`s definitely worth checkin` out, (we`ll be doin` that later on this year I`m sure:) but what I`ve got for y`all is her 2nd album released in 2002 "Eternal Affairs". Heather B rockS the mic like a pro delivering 12 jointS DoPe enough for ya` friendly neighborhood BuDDaH~MaN. With some production by Pete Rock & DJ Premier what`s not to like? Actually here`s a lil` sample for y`all, here`s "Steady Rockin`" the track Premier laced Heather B with -- check it out & enjoy the album...
