BiLLy DaNZe`s SoLo LP iN The WoRKs...

Good news for y`all M.O.P. fans! I just found out that Billy Danze is working on a solo album, the title for the project is "Behind Gates". So far some of the confirmed features are Busta Rhymes & Slaughterhouse. This should be interesting, always loved the raw aggressive energy that M.O.P. has behind their music. You can read a DoPe lil` Billy Danze interview over at Hip Hop DX, check it out here...

Bo$$ MuSiC ViDeoS, LiVe PeRFoRMaNCe & iNTeRVieWs...

What`s up y`all? Hope all is good, I`m gon` keep it movin` on the Bo$$ tip once again. This post is a lil` different though, it`s strictly music videos, a live performance & a few interviews that Bo$$ has done with RETV & Yo! MTV Raps. I converted all the files to mp4 format so they should be i-Pod/ mp3 player friendly for y`all...

The first file that I`ve included is the music video for "Deeper". The song`s great, but honestly the video isn`t anything spectacular. It`s a pretty darkly shot (light~wise) video, with scenes of Bo$$ rappin` behind some cell bars & there`s also a few shots of her in a strait jacket...LoL, the next file`s also the music video for "Deeper", but it`s followed by a lil` interview Bo$$ & Dee did with Sherronda on RETV...

It`s not that long just a few minutes, but it`s still interesting. They discuss their time in L.A. & what they were doin` before they were signed. Dee breaks down what her definition on 'hardcore' is, while Bo$$ speaks on their style...

The next file included is actually 3 lil` short clips/ parts taken from when Bo$$ was on Yo! MTV Raps with Fab 5 Freddy back in 1992. They`re at Coney Island conducting the interview & taking in the sights. In the first part Bo$$ explains the meaning behind her name, "Bitch On Some Shit". She also talks about where she`s from & who her influences are. In the second part Bo$$ speaks on her debut, which was on the AMG track "Mai Sista Izza Bitch" - she also talks about inspirations. In the third & final part she talks about live performances & the fact that even though she reps that 'gangsta/ hardcore' image she`s still got that feminine side to her...LoL

The next file is a live performance from 1993 when Bo$$ was on Yo! Live Fridays she preforms "Deeper" along with Dee. After that the next file on the list is the music video for "Recipe Of A Hoe". The final file of the bunch is the music video for "Run, Catch & Kill". So there ya have it, now go & get ya` video watchin` on...

Includes:

Boss - Deeper [1993]
Boss -- Hip Hop Time Capsule [1993] Deeper video & RETV Interview
Boss - Interview Parts 1-3 @ Yo MTV Raps [1992]
Boss - Performing Deeper Live @ Yo MTV Raps [1993]
Boss - Recipe Of A Hoe [1993]
Boss - Run, Catch & Kill [1994]

Bo$$` "RuN, CaTCH & KiLL" [12 iNCH]...

Yes, Yes.....got some more music from Bo$$ for y`all. This joint here is a promo 12 inch that was released in 1994 on Mercury. I`m guessin` that this track was going to be featured on her second LP that was later shelved since it`s not from her debut album. It only has 3 tracks on it, but they are good tunes so that kind of makes up for it. One thing that I noticed about this 12 inch is that the sticker/ label on it simply lists the second track as "Run, Catch & Kill" but it`s not the same as the LP Version so it`s either a Radio Version, a Remix or something else....LoL, anyway check out the music & enjoy...

Label: Mercury
Released: 1994

A1. Run, Catch & Kill [Video Mix]
A2. Run, Catch & Kill
B1. Run, Catch & Kill [Dirty Version]

Back again with another 12 inch from Bo$$ for y`all, this one was released in 1993 on Def Jam West. The first track "Recipe Of A Hoe" was produced by Mic Professah. It`s beat may sound familiar to some because it contains a sample from "Impeach The President". "Born Gangsta" was produced by AMG & also features Admiral D (I`ve got no idea who he is, someone feel free to school me!). Both tracks are well worth the listen so go `head & check `em out...

Bo$$` "i DoN`T GiVe A FuCK b/w Mai SiSTa iZZa BiTCH" [12 iNCH]...

What`s goin` on y`all? I`ve got some good news, well at least for me it is....LoL, my homie DiRTy KooL AiD gave me a bunch of Bo$$` 12 inches yesterday. I`ve been trying to find `em for a while so I was pretty stoked when he handed `em over! Since the search has finally ended I`m gon` share `em with y`all as I rip `em, hopefully you appreciate the links & the time spent sharing the music. So let`s get on with it shall we...

For those that aren`t up on Bo$$ let me give ya a lil` run down of what I know of her. Although she has a West Coast vibe to her music Bo$$ reps Detroit, Michigan & first stepped on the scene around 1991. Apparently her emcee moniker is also an acronym for "Bitch On Some Shit". After graduating from high school Bo$$ decided to move out to Los Angles along with her DJ, Dee Tha Mad Bitch. While out there she met up with DJ Quik, he then hooked Bo$$ up with a feature on AMG`s 1991 album "Bitch Better Have My Money". The song`s title, "Mai Sista Izza Bitch". The track had a nice lil` buzz behind it, Russell Simmons heard it & was really impressed. So BiG Russ` decided to snatch her up & he quickly signed her to Def Jam West...

Dee on the left, Bo$$ on the right...

In 1993 "Born Gangstaz" was released, although it was listed as Bo$$` debut album Dee was also a part of it -- hence the 'Gangstaz' as opposed to 'Gangsta'. The first single to chart from the album was the Def Jef produced "Deeper". It managed to nail the #1 spot on the Billboard charts. The next single with a buzz was "Recipe For A Hoe" which was produced by Mic Professah, it also reached #1. Things were really lookin` good for Bo$$, especially with her album receiving 4 Mics in the Source magazine...

When you`re on the rise however there`s always someone or something trying to pull ya back down, in Bo$$` case it came to her in 1994 in the form of an interview that she did with the Wall Street Journal. Honestly I don`t think that she really did anything wrong, all she did was keep it 100. However in doin` so she revealed the fact that she wasn`t 'so gangsta'. She attended private school, was college educated & grew up with both parents in a middle~class neighborhood. Shortly after that Def Jam shelved her second album & dropped her from the label...

Sure these were different times, but what I don`t understand is how Bo$$ was pretty much black~balled by the industry for keepin` it real, while Rick Ross a.k.a. Officer Ricky lied about being a C.O. & he`s livin` it up in a gimmick world. What can ya say, this Rap ish is like wrestling....LoL, anyway Bo$$ decided to relocate to Dallas, Texas & went on to become a radio DJ...

She made some~what of a comeback as a feature on a joint from Krayzie Bone`s 2001 album "Thug On Da Line". The song`s title, "A Thugga` Level" featured Lareece & was produced by Def Jef. She follow that collabo` appearance up with a mixtape she released in 2004 titled "The Six Million Dollar Mixtape". So there ya have it, a lil` brief history on Bo$$. Now go on & get to the tunes...

Da GRaSSRooTs` "PRiCe Of LiViN` b/w LaST DaYs" [12 iNCH]...

What`s up y`all? Hope you`re not all burnt out from the loss of the hour due to Daylight Savings Time...LoL, I know I`ve been a lil` on the tired side the last couple of days. Honestly though I`d give up a few more hours of sleep if it means that Spring would arrive much earlier `cuz I`m extremely tired of Winter & all of it`s snow! Anyways enough about all that Winter love, let`s get to the music...

What I have for y`all today is a DoPe 12 inch single from Da Grassroots that was released back in 1999 thru Conception Records. Da Grassroots are a Canadian Hip Hop production team consisting of 3 members; Mr. Murray, Mr. Attic & Swift. They`ve done some work with fellow Canadians Choclair, Ghetto Concept & the Dream Warriors to name a few. Both of the tracks on this 12 inch are from their 1999 album titled "Passage Through Time" (very iLL album, highly recommend it!)...

You get both the Street & Radio versions of the tracks plus the Instrumentals. I DiG the A-Side a lil` more than the B-Side, but they`re both great songs so go `head & check `em out for ya`self...
