BiG PuN`s "TWiNZ (DeeP CoVeR `98)" [PRoMo CD SiNGLe]...

Here`s another CD Single that I scooped up during another lil` visit to a pawn shop. Big Pun, truly an individual who`s presence & humor HiP HoP`s been missin`! Unless you`ve been under a rock, you know that the BiG homie`s word~play was straight cashew & then some plus tax. I still remember when I first heard Big Pun, it was on a college Hip Hop radio show (can`t recall the exact show) & the song was "You Ain`t A Killer"...

I was impressed, definitely dug his lyrical content & the beat was pretty sick as well. However when I first heard "Twinz (Deep Cover `98)" I was straight blown away! Pun was spittin` nothin` but heaters, especially when he flexed the now famous "Dead in the middle of Little Italy..." part, dude was just sick with it! As for the rest of the song, I think that both Big Pun & Fat Joe did a good job payin` homage to the West Coast with this one. Using Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg`s "Deep Cover" Instrumental both kats complimented one another & lyrically they held the East Coast down...

Since this is a single you get the Album Version, the Clean Version, the Instrumental & the A Cappella. One good thing about this single is that the A Cappella isn`t edited & the other thing worth mentioning is that the Clean Version isn`t edited in an annoying way. The cuss words are edited by sound effects instead of the good ol` classic but unenjoyable BeePs.....LoL, so you can still listen to the Clean Version without gettin` fuckin` annoyed. So do ya`self a favor & check it out...

I missed this joint when it first dropped back in 2009, fortunately for me my homie K-NyNe recently hooked me up with his copy so I could check it out. After giving it a listen I figured that it was something that I should share with y`all, so that`s exactly what I`m doing. DJ Graffiti mixed this joint & Astronote cooked up the beats while Talib Kweli took on the role as host for this Notorious B.I.G. remix project. This was the first time that I heard Astronote`s work, he definitely impressed me though. The backdrops that he created mesh really well with Biggie`s flows, almost like they`re actual tracks that Biggie had worked on. DJ Graffiti does a good job mixin`, scratchin` & blendin` the tracks together in a nice seamless way that makes the listening a lot more enjoyable. So check it out, you will be glad that ya did...

Keepin` things movin` with another CD Single for my whole 2 visitors....LoL, this one comes from RahSun. Now please excuse the fact that I really know nothing of him (feel free to school me) aside from the fact that he released his debut album "It`s Not A Game" back in 1998. I do know that he`s reppin` "Bang City", New York (wherever that is, I have no clue). The reason I grabbed this single when I seen it was for the Big Pun feature. The song isn`t bad at all, sure you can tell it was geared more for radio spins but it still bangs. The beat was produced by Far East Flavor, who I`m guessin` was 550 Music`s in~house producer because most of the other production credits that I`ve seen for Far East Flavor have been for other artists on the 550 Music label, like Tami Hert & Demond. Anyways check this joint out for ya`self, I`m pretty sure you`ll DiG what ya hear...

SCaRFaCe`s "HoMieS & THuGGs" [PRoMo CD SiNGLe]...

Well I`ve decided to keep it movin`, fuck the feds!.....LoL

So after re-up`N a few of the previous posts I`m gon` continue on with another CD Single post for my 2 visitors....LoL, the only down~side about this single (for me anyways) is that it doesn`t include the non~edited versions of each track. Oh well, this joint was intended mainly for the radio DJ`s anyway....LoL, I really only picked this up for the instrumentals since I already have a copy of Scarface`s 1998 double~album "My Homies"...

On the production side of things both N.O. Joe & Mike Dean cooked up the LP Version, while Mr. Brad Jordan a.k.a. Scarface produced the Remix -- `Face shares the track with Master P & 2Pac on both versions as well. As for the 2Pac feature it`s actually a freestyle (`Pac even says it in his verse) that was at the time unreleased (I believe Scarface said he had it in his vault). The reason you can tell it`s a freestyle is simple, the beat`s completely different than the rest of the track as well as the vocals. I wouldn`t mind hearing the actual freestyle that was used for this track. If you check out the music video for "Homies & Thuggs" (watch it here, embedding was disabled) when it`s time for 2Pac`s verse they show the video footage of when he was spittin` his freestyle. I`m guessin` the footage was filmed during one of the times that 2Pac made his way out to Houston...

Overall both versions of "Homies & Thuggs" are decent tracks, but I`m DiGG`n the beat on the Remix much more than the LP Version. On this single all the cussin` has been masked or silenced (except for 2Pac`s verse which is edited in a real annoying way) which kind of sucks since they actually reworked the lyrics for the hook. It would`ve been much more enjoyable to listen to if they took a lil` more time to rework their verses. I realize that the 2Pac verse would have to remain as is, but `Face & P could`ve redid their ish. Oh well my homies & thug figures, this one`s for you enjoy...

I know, I know...LoL, I`m a bit late postin` this joint up, but whatever! I just recently got the chance to give this mixtape a listen, so now I`ma share it with y`all. I know that there`s a few kats out there that haven`t heard this yet, so you`re welcome. Anyways what I`m talkin` about is Da Brat`s "Life After Death Mixtape", the joint she put together after serving her 3~year bid. I`ve been a fan of Da B-R-A-T since she first stepped on the scene back in 1994, so I`m glad that she decided to get right back into the booth after being released, unlike Shyne & Mystikal. One good thing is that her style hasn`t switched up too much (compared to her last record in 2003), so you know that the So So Def vet is BLeSS`n ya with a nice listen...

I believe that this joint dropped back in June of 2011, released as a freebie to spark up a buzz & tide fans over til she drops an official album. Jadakiss, Brandon Hines & Twista all help welcome the Da Brat home with some features while DJ Greg Street hosts the mixtape. Although "Get It, Get It" featuring Jadakiss & Brandon Hines & "Dumb, Stupid, Crazy" featuring Twista may be the only original tracks on this mixtape (both produced by J.D.), Da Brat still brings some heat when she`s spittin` over the beats of some current chart hits. She adds her touch to joints like "2Pac`s Back" ("It`s Brat"), "Racks", Miguel`s "Sure Thing", Chris Brown`s "Look At Me Now" & Kelly Roland`s "Motivation" to name a few...

The best joint on this mixtape, my opinion of course, would have to be "West Side" with it`s nice laidback G-Funk vibe. Following that is "Second Chance", a deep emotional joint that has Da Brat speakin` on her trials & tribulations. It may not be the DoPesT track on here, but it`s most def` the ReaLesT joint. Even though she is kind of outshined by Jadakiss on "Get It, Get It" Da Brat spits a nice double~time flow. While on the thumpin` "Dumb, Stupid, Crazy" she & fellow Chi~towner Twista spit heaters. Sure this mixtape may be a lil` on the short side, but in my ears it`s straight & to the point. It does what it was intended to do, get Da Brat`s name out there & let all the doubters know that the original platinum female emcee is back, so check it out & enjoy...

This week during my searches I was fortunate enough to come across a few CD singles that I didn`t have previously. So that`s what I will be sharing with y`all in next few posts, for this one I have for y`all listen pleasure the 504 Boyz` "Wobble Wobble" Promo CD Single. It was released back in 2000 through No Limit Records/ Priority Records as promo for their "Goodfellas" album. A funny thing about this track is that one of the reasons I remember this joint is because of the X-rated music video that Master P dropped back in the day.....LoL, I may I have it somewhere -- once I find it I`ll post it up...

Anyways on this single you get 3 tracks; the "Wobble Wobble" Radio Version, the Album Version & it`s Instrumental. This joint itself isn`t that bad, the nice bouncy beat provided by Carlos Stephens is the perfect backdrop for Master P, C-Murder, Silkk Da Shocker, Magic, Mac, Mystikal & Krazy to spit their booty admiring lyrics. I know that I`ve heard Jane Blaze on a few other tracks before, but for the likes of me I can`t recall their names. As for who Jane Blaze is I can`t really say `cuz I know nothin` of her. So if anyone out there can school me please go `head & do so! I do know that she can spit so ya won`t be disappointed. On this track titled "Slow Down" Sauce Money makes an appearance, but sadly he`s just supplying the hook. Daven "Prestige" Vanderpool provided the beat & well Jane Blaze takes care of the rest. I just wish that this single included a unedited version of the track, if anyone out there has it hook me up!!!

The other day while gem searchin` I came across this single (far from a gem, but whatever....LoL) up in a pawn shop for a good ol` $1.50 so I decided to grab it since I didn`t have it in my collection yet & now I`m sharing it with y`all. It`s nothin` really super spectacular, what ya get is a deep emotional track ("Father") that`s from LL`s 1997 album "Phenomenon", it`s instrumental & then the single closes out with the "4, 3, 2, 1 [E-Dub Rmx]" (sadly it`s the Radio Edit) that features Method Man, Redman, DMX, Canibus & Master P...

Obviously the "4, 3, 2, 1 [E-Dub Rmx]" is the joint for me on this one, even if it is a Radio Edit. "Father" is a decent song, but in all honesty I always found it kind of funny that it was chosen for a single. There were other joints that were far more 'radio friendly' than "Father". I mean when you look at the content of the "Phenomenon" album you can see that at least 95% of it was geared towards the ladies, so who knows maybe LL wanted to go for somethin` different by selectin` this emotional track for a single. Either way give the single a listen, oh yeah you can DL the music videos for each track. What`s up y`all? Hope all is good with ya, today I have a lil` movie for y`all enjoyment. This Comedy joint is from 2001 & stars Redman & Method Man, that`s right you guessed it....the movie that I`m sharing with y`all today is titled "How High". I seen this flick in the theater with my homie Abe back when it was first released. It`s a decent joint, definitely a movie ya smoke to......LoL, you`ll see a few familiar faces in the cast of this flick. You have Mike Epps (think Day-Day from "Next Friday"), Lark Voorhies (think Lisa from the "Saved By The Bell" TV show), Essence Atkins (think Tasha from the "Smart Guy" TV series) & even Cypress Hill make a lil` cameo appearance...

Now for those that don`t know what the movie`s about I will give ya a lil` summary without any spoilers. The film`s two main characters Silas P. Silas (played by Method Man) & Jamal King (played by Redman) lose their good friend Ivory in a crazy Weed~related dreadlock fire accident. In a sentimental move they decide to grow some Marijuana in Ivory`s ashes, the outcome`s pretty funny. The spirit of their deceased friend comes back whenever they smoke the Weed that they grew in his ashes. So they end up using this spiritual connection to help get them both into Harvard. Once they arrive both Jamal & Silas flip the Ivy Leaguer`s lives upside down in a way only true Buddah smokers could do. So go on, check out the flick for some laughs you won`t be disappointed...

I am almost certain that this joint hasn`t been posted up on the `net yet, so please allow me to do the honors of sharing it with y`all! What I have for your listening pleasure is Da Grassroots` "Passage Through Time" Album Sampler Tape. It was released in 1999 as promo for their album, mainly record stores, college Hip Hop radio show hosts & DJ`s got these. There were also a few lucky kats like myself that were fortunate enough to get their hands on `em, the Haitian Sensation hooked me up with two copies back in the day so ya know I gotta BiG him uP!!!

Now let`s get to the tape shall we, it`s hosted by The World Famous Almighty Elite Squad. What ya get to hear is 6 snippets of tracks off Da Grassroots "Passage Through Time" album along with an intro, a few interludes & an outro. It`s just over 15 minutes in length & the program repeats on both sides, so Side A is the exact same as B. Here`s another joint I copped from my lil` trip to a pawn shop, grabbed this along with that Ant Banks "Big Thangs" [Promo CD Single] & a few other joints. Anyways this single is actually more like a Dangerous Crew single as opposed to just an Ant Banks joint. You see ya get the Radio Version of "Parlayin`" (along with it`s Instrumental), an Ant Banks track from his 1994 album "The Big Badass" that features Goldy. It`s got a nice smoothed out but thumpin` beat provided by the Banksta himself, the lyrics are slightly altered -- not so much edited (well except for a few words....LoL). Check out the music video below.....LoL, you get to see `em playin` some good ol` Sega Genesis, ahhhh the good ol` days...

After the Ant Banks joints we move on to some Too $hort tracks from his 1993 album "Get In Where You Fit In". The first one is simply the Radio Version for the LP track & it features Rappin` Ron & Ant Diddley Dog, this track is actually pretty hard to listen to because of the way that it`s edited -- no alternate lyrics here unfortunately. The second version is the "Get In Where You Fit In" Video Version featuring Father Dom, this one`s a lot easier to listen to than the previous version. The final version is a Remix that also features Father Dom, it`s pretty nice -- no annoying edits here either. Got somewhat of a rarity, at least it is for me anyway. Haven`t seen this joint around, so I`m sharing it with y`all. Found this one during a lil`pawn shop visit lookin` for some hidden gems in the used CD section. I originally grabbed it just for the Instrumentals because I don`t really dig the Radio Edit versions of tracks usually, but it turns out that on this Promo CD Single the Radio Versions aren`t actually edited -- the lyrics are just changed up to suit Radio standards (no cussin`). Ant Banks handles the production for all these tracks & he does a good job providing some thumpin` beats for ya` listeing pleasure. I celebrated my 31st birthday on the 19 of last month, so I have some gifts to share with y`all since a few of my homies hit me up with some B-day goodies. See I`m not as greedy as some folks claim me to be he~heh~heh. The first lil` gem I received was Necro`s "Get On Your Knees" 12 inch, thank you M@RSuPiaL it`s much appreciated!!!

"Get On Your Knees" is actually the first song that I had heard of Necro`s. I believe that I heard it on the One 4 All radio show (89.1 fm) back when the 12 inch first dropped. It`s a pretty humorous joint (in a twisted way), you don`t need to be a NASA engineer to figure out what the subject matter is.....LoL, the B-Side of this single has Necro spittin` his sadistic lyrics over a nice dark & grimy track. In case you were wondering, both tracks on this 12 inch were produced by Necro myself. As for who Necro is I will get into that a little later on in another post, for now enjoy the tunes...

Here`s a joint that I had to borrow from my homie DiRTy KooL AiD, mainly because I was curious to hear some of Nine`s earlier work on the mic. If I`m not mistaken this is actually his debut, but most folks only really started to take notice of him from his feature on Funkmaster Flex`s 1993 12 inch "Six Million Ways To Die" -- he`s featured along with Intelligent Hoodlum a.k.a. Tragedy Khadafi. Sure he goes by Nine Double M for this 12 inch, but as the years progressed he would shorten it from that to 9 Double M & then finally to just Nine. This is the same kat who dropped the 1995 album "Nine Livez" with such BaNGeRs as "Whutcha Want?" & "Any Emcee". He followed that up with the 1996 release "Cloud 9" which includes the CLaSSiC joint "Lyin` King". Alright y`all grab ya`self some popcorn & drinks, roll a few blunts/ joints & get ready to take in this Jam Master Jam documentary titled "2 Turntables & A Microphone: The Life & Death Of Jam Master Jay". It clocks in at 1 hour & 35 minutes, I believe that this joint was packaged up as a bonus DVD with 50 Cent`s "Before I Self Destruct" album (please correct me if I`m wrong) which dropped in 2009. The documentary takes a look at the Life & Death of Jason Mizell a.k.a. DJ Jam Master Jay, the driving force behind Run DMC`s style & sound. You get to see some great vintage photos mixed in with some short interview clips from a few of Jay`s Hollis, Queens comrades; Run (Joseph Simmons) & Russell Simmons, but strangely no DMC -- the doc` loses some major points for that! Some of Jam Master`s musical protégés like Onyx, 50 Cent & Jayo Felony speak on him. While surprisingly (since 50 Cent helped fund this project) even Ja Rule & Black Child along with other various Queens artists & industry insiders weigh in on how Jam Master Jay impacted both HiP HoP & their lives...

Overall this documentary is decent, they do a good job shedding some light on Jam Master Jay`s legacy. The only things that I didn`t like were the fact that there wasn`t any interviews with fellow group member DMC, producer Rick Rubin or any of Jason`s immediate family. There could have been more stage show/ live performance footage & maybe just a lot more Run DMC music played thru~out the documentary would`ve been nice (maybe they couldn`t clear the samples...LoL). Regardless of what may have been missed this documentary should be seen at least once if you`re a fan of JMJ or Run DMC, so check it out. It`s in mp4 format, so I`m sure you`ll be able to watch it on ya` i-Pods...

Today I`ve got some good ol` Texas flava for y`all...Houston, Texas to be exact. What I`m hittin` y`all with is Cl`Che`'s debut album titled "Clasyfyd Lady", it dropped back in 1998 on After Life Records. Up here in the O~DouBLe T it`s a pretty rare album to find in the stores, but I was fortunate enough to find it in a pawn shop for $5. The only downside is that it didn`t included the album`s cover art, oh well at least I have the CD:) Now this isn`t the first post that I`ve dropped on Cl`Che`, you can peep the collabo` mixtape "Hustle hard Pt. 2" that she did with Ms. Toi right here. Cl`Che` even stopped by posted a comment & schooled me on who she was, so now for y`all folks out there that don`t really know of her I`ll give ya a lil` run down on who Cl`Che` is & what she`s about before I get into her album...

First off Cl`Che` isn`t a one trick pony, when it comes to the music not only does she hold it down on the mic when she`s spittin` her raps, but she also sings -- so ya get a dual bonus for ya` ears. She first introduced herself to the HiP HoP world in 1998 with her debut album "Clasyfyd Lady", since then she`s dropped a good 10 albums (mostly on the independent tip). Some of the albums titles that I know of are "U Don`t Hear Me Doe", "Off Da Chain" & "May 17th Drop Date". She`s also the mind behind the "Hustle Hard" mixtape series, the 4th part in this series is going to be an R&B/ HiP HoP/ Inspirational joint titled "Still Hood, But Saved: Hustle Hard Part 4"...

As you can see Cl`Che` has a very strong work ethic, she stays busy no question. Even though she`s mostly on the independent grind she has worked with some mainstream artists thru~out her career; Lil` KeKe, Lil` Flip, 8Ball & MJG, Z-Ro, Sole`, Ms. Toi & Doggy`s Angels to name a few. She`s also an affiliate of the late & legendary DJ Screw`s Screwed Up Click, her freestyles & tracks received much love on Screw`s CLaSSiC mixtapes. Cl`Che` is also doing a lot of positive things for women worldwide thru her women`s movement S.H.E., which stands for "Sister Hood Everlasting" -- they do fundraisers & motivational events to help feed the needy. I think it`s great when artists give back to their communities so I can only BiG~uP Cl`Che` & her efforts...

Now let`s get to "Clasyfyd Lady" shall we? It`s definitely a good listen, what makes this joint so enjoyable is that Cl`Che` covers a wide range of topics -- from relationships, dealing with the pressures of Life, Southside pride, sisterhood guidance & stackin` paper just to name a few. The beats are pretty solid thru~out the album & compliment both Cl`Che`s raps & her singin` (especially on the hooks). Standout tracks for me are; "2 Much Pressure", "Bi-Boogie [Rmx]" (which samples "Sexual Healing"), "Sista To Sista" & "Get Yours". So definitely give this a listen you will be glad you did...

What`s been goin` on y`all? It`s been a few days....LoL, hopin` all is well with y`all & you`re not too depressed that the Summer has come to an end. MiA X`s "GooD GiRL GoNe BaD"...

Lately I`ve been on a No Limit Records kick, listening to a lot of the label`s older ish from 1995 to 1998. What started it all was Mia X`s debut album from 1995 "Good Girl Gone Bad". Seen it at a pawn shop & scooped it up for a steal ($2), from there I just started to dust off other No Limit releases that I had in my collection. Anyway for those not familiar with Mia X, let me fill you in...

Mia X was born & raised in New Orleans, despite what many folks/ websites believe she never lived in New York. Maybe they got it twisted because she started her Hip Hop roots at the early age of 13 in 1984 as a member of New Orleans` first Hip Hop group New York Incorporated. The group consisted of members Mannie Fresh, Denny D, Mia X & DJ Wop...

The reason for the group`s name is pretty simple really, Denny D was the founding member & he was from Hollis, Queens. They stuck it out for a few years, but in 1987 things came to an end when Denny D returned to New York. A lil` bump in the road, still Mia kept it movin`....Life happens however & she decided to put the Rap game on hold for a few years. Mia was blessed with a child & decided that she needed to do what was best & that was to be a mother. After a few years though the Hip Hop bug came BuZZ`n around & bit her again.....LoL, so in 1992 she dropped her first single thru Lamina Records, "The Payback". The single did pretty well sellin` roughly 77, 000 copies...

A few years later (around 1994) comes Master P who at the time was just starting to get his record label No Limit off the ground. Lookin` to gather some more artists for his stable, he stepped to Mia X since he had been impressed by the success of her single. The two chopped it up & eventually she was down with P & his No Limit label, becoming 'the first lady of The Tank'. In 1995 "Good Girl Gone Bad" was released, on the production side of things KLC, Master P, Mo B. Dick, Tre 8, K-Lou & Al Eaton handled the beats. For a debut album Mia X brings a decent amount of topics to the listeners` ears...

From tales of baby~father`s fake~ass no good friends ("Yo` Boyz"), scandalous men anthem ("Can`t Trust A Man"), a single mother`s tribute to her son ("My Everything"), a tribute to her murdered friend ("R.I.P. Jil"), paper cha$in` ("Mission 2 Get Paid") to reppin` for the ladies straight rhyme flexin` & bashin` the men ("Payback II"). Lyrically Mia X can hold her own, I find that she shine`s best when spittin` the deep emotional ish, but she can also bring it on the lyrical tip from time to time. The only thing that I really didn`t like much about this album was the beats, they could`ve been a lot harder. Regardless this makes for a good listen, so go `head & check it out...

Back again with the follow up to Zagg`s debut album, "Through The Eyes Of She". This joint was released in 2005 & unlike her debut she actually goes by Zigg Zagg here. Like she says in her own words on the Outro it`s "The Diary of she through the eyes of her". Compared to her debut, this one is most definitely a much more deeper/ emotional type album. You can definitely hear her growth in subject matter as she tackles such topics as suicide, broken relationships, Life`s stresses & struggles & her love for music to name a few...

Standout joints for me are; "I-She-See", "Gangsta" featuring Brotha Lynch Hung, "Muzicc" featuring Brotha Lynch Hung & D-Dubb, "Oh Damn", "Had Enough" featuring Mea-Gee, "Here We Go Again" featuring Suga-T, "Tribute" & "The Argument" featuring Brotha Lynch Hung. ZaGG`s "HeLL iN AuGuST"...

I know -- I know, I`ve been slackin` with the posts lately.....LoL, just got caught up in Life, but don`t worry I`m back for those that have missed the posts....LoL, Got a lil` something that may be unknown to a few folks out there. At least this album & artist was to me until I found the album up in a pawn shop with a few other joints that I scooped up a few weeks back. When I first seen the album cover I thought to myself, "Zagg.....hmmm, she should`ve went by the name Zig Zag instead that would`ve been DoPe..." Turns out after doin` a lil` research into who she was, her rappin` alias is actually Zigg Zagg, guess she switched it up after thinkin` just the same way I did....LoL...

Anyway for those that don`t know about Zigg Zagg a.k.a. Zagg let me hit ya with a lil` info`. She`s reppin` Sacramento, California & first stepped on the Rap scene at the age of 16 after Brotha Lynch Hung walked into the local Buger King that she was working at at the time for some food. Shortly after the two developed a friendship (later on a relationship & marriage) which led to her debut on Brotha Lynch Hung`s 1995 album "Season Of Da Siccness" on the track "Locc 2 Da Brain"...

Working alongside her boyfriend/ husband Zigg Zagg picked up a lot of her knowledge of the business side of things & on top of that she was building her skills on the mic. Thru~out the years she`s toured with Brotha Lynch Hung & has been featured on numerous Siccmade/ Madesicc Muzicc projects. She`s also worked with such artists as MC Eiht, X Raided, Marvaless, Suga-T, MC Breed, Snoop Dogg, Frank Nitty & Celly Cell to name a few...

As for the her debut "Hell In August", it`s a decent listen. There`s really only two things that I didn`t like about the album. The first one is the fact that I found a lot of the beats had a tendency to drown out Zigg Zagg`s vocals. The second is the lack of subject matter, just a lil` too much murder~murder ish for my liking. The best track on the album is definitely the collabo` with Brotha Lynch Hung titled "The Argument". It`s just what the title suggests, Zagg & Hung going back & forth with each other -- domestic dispute style. Lyrically Zagg does her thang & the beats thump hard. So go `head & give the album a listen, feel free to leave some thoughts...

Yes, yes y`all back again with a lil` gem that I had been lookin` for since I lost it a few years ago. That`s why I hate lending out my ish......LoL, fortunately for me my homie DiRTy KooL AiD was nice enough to give it to me as a gift, puttin` an end to my searchin`. I`m a BiG Lady Of Rage fan if ya couldn`t tell....LoL, so of course I`ma share this one with y`all as well. It`s actually an independently released mixtape~type album that Rage released thru her own Boss Lady Entertainment label back in 2005. Apparently it was released as promo for a new album that she was said to be workin` on at the time. Who knows, if it`s that`s true maybe she`ll be dropping that 'new album' in the near future. After all it`s only been 7 years, ya never know...LoL

As for "V.A. 2 L.A." it`s a decent listen, fans of Rage will definitely DiG it. You get a nice lil` mix of some of her previously released work, new tracks & tracks done over other artists beats, mixtape style. The DJ Premier produced "Unfuckwitable" is off the "Doggy Style Allstars - Welcome To The House Vol. 1" album released in 2002 on Doggystyle Records. "Afro Puffs [Original & Remix]" is just the original joint that`s featured on the "Above The Rim Soundtrack" with the "Afro Puffs [Extended Remix]" blended into it halfway thru the track. "Old Skool" is just a part of Rage`s verse from "Puffin` On Blunts & Drankin` Tangueray" mixed with a part of Rage`s verse from "Stranded On Death Row" & that`s mixed with Rage`s verse from "Set It Off" off Snoop Dogg`s "Tha Last Meal" album...

The new tracks are pretty dope, I`m DiGG`n "Put U Up On Rage", "No, No, No", "V.A. Mo` Money" & "Boss Lady". Rage also introduces the listeners to Doc Strange, I`m guessin` that he`s an artist that she was working with at the time (I`m not familiar with him, someone feel free to school me). His introduction track, "Ten Pimp Commandments" has him spittin` the apparent rules of the pimp game over Biggie`s "Ten Crack Commandments" beat, he`s also featured on "There They Go". As a lil` added bonus there`s even a lil` humor on this mixtape~album courtesy of the "Interview [Skit]", The Poetess is actin` as if she`s interviewing the likes of R. Kelly, Jacki-O, Jay-Z, Fat Joe & a few other kats except when it comes to their response to her question a sample of the artist`s music is used for the response....LoL, similar to how Chris Rock did it. It`s kind of hard to believe that it`s been 9 years since Left Eye was tragically killed in a car accident, I know that I can`t be the only one that`s missing her nasally pitch on the mic. Anyways this post really comes courtesy of my homie DiRTy KooL AiD, he hit me up with this joint in an email. It`s obviously on the bootleg~tip, especially since it clocks in at a lil` over 100 minutes of music. So unfortunately for y`all CD lovers it`s not gon` fit onto a standard 80 minute disc (unless ya burn it as an mp3 CD), this one`s for ya` i-Pods & mp3 players...

What you`re gettin` here is the bootleg version of Left Eye`s "Supernova" that was originally released in 2001 on Arista Records. So not only do you get all the tracks from the retail album but ya get a few collabo`s that she`s done on the solo~tip without TLC, aside from "My Secret Enemy" featuring T-Boz. There were only 2 singles released from "Supernova"; "The Block Party" & I believe "Hot!" was the second joint. Anyway this bootleg does a nice job displaying the talents that Left Eye had to offer in her music, so if you`re a fan you should definitely check it out...

Up until now I`ve never heard of her so I have no idea who she is, I think that she`s reppin` Cali. Obviously if any of y`all know of her, please school me! The album itself has some good G-Funk beats & Lo-Lo is pretty nice with the lyrics as well. Don`t judge the album by the title because this one isn`t all about Weed smokin`, there`s actually only 2 tracks covering that subject matter ("I Got Lipstick On My Blunts" & "Indo On My Mind"). She covers a variety of topics from partying, cars, jackin` folks, smokin` Weed, cheatin` men, sex, love & the hard times of the ghetto. I`m a lil` late with this one, but whatever I still wanted to share it with y`all regardless. Continuing things with some more Canadian HiP HoP, this joint is from Reema Major. She`s new to the game reppin` Toronto, Canada & at the time this joint was released she was only 15 years (she may be 16 now), it`s actually her second mixtape. Aside from the fact that she was featured on "The Cypher" at the 2010 B.E.T. Hip Hop Awards & that she`s signed to G7/ Universal/ Interscope Records I know nothing of her so I found this lil` interview Reema breaks it all down for us...

She definitely shows some promise, especially when it comes to the lyrics. Hopefully she only gets better with age & reps the ladies somethin` proper. "15 Going On 25" is simply Reema spittin` her raps over well~known instrumentals like Big L`s "Put It On", Wu-Tang`s "C.R.E.A.M." & Salt-N-Pepa`s "Push It"). Nothin` crazy groundbreaking, however it does display Reema`s skills on the mic. One thing I`m sure folks are gon` say is that at times she sort of sounds like Nicki Minaj without all the lil` retarded voices & it`s kind of true -- however I doubt Nicki was spittin` these kind of lyrics at her age. I`m Hoping that in due time she`ll develop her own distinct sound & style, for now go on & check out her music...

I`m trying to clean out my computer`s hard-drive & in the process I came across this video of an appearance that Lil` Kim made on the Howard Stern Show. She`s promoting her "Notorious K.I.M." album so I`m guessin` that the year`s around 2000 or so. The video is about 21-22 minutes long, gotta say that Kim looks pretty hot.....LoL, Howard Stern is flirtin` with her the whole time sayin` her titties are poppin` out. Aside from all the jokin` & ish Lil` Kim does speak on the relationship she had with her father, not a great one. She also speaks a lil` bit about Biggie & their relationship. Then towards the end they bring in "Brock The Stutterer" & he sings in an attempt to get signed to Lil` Kim`s record label. What`s the deal y`all? Hope you`re enjoying the Spring weather! In the O~DouBLe T it`s finally starting to get nice outside & the rain seems to be staying away. Which is great since it`s been raining pretty much everyday for the last week & some change. Along with Spring comes the often dreaded Spring cleaning.....LoL, honestly I don`t mind it so much though because most of the time I end up finding some ish I had really been lookin` for....LoL, take for instance this album that I`m about to share with y`all. I knew that I had it & had been lookin` for it for a few months, then one day I decided to commence the good ol` Spring cleaning. That`s when I pulled an Indy Jones & discovered Unknown2Scientz`s 2004 album "Second Trymeztah"...

Unfortunately I know very little about the Canadian HiP HoP duo, but I`ll do my best to fill you in with what I do. First off, if you`re a fan of iLL word~play backed by dark grimy beats then you`ll definitely DiG Unknown2Scientz! From what I was told Unknown & Scientz were originally a part of Dubb Club, an east~end Toronto group of free~flowin` emcees that earned their props thru~out the Underground scene of eastern Scarborough. They had a decent fan~base, things were going great for a while...

Eventually though with all things good conflicts began to arise & the collective broke apart. Unknown & Scientz however decided to continue to work with each other & eventually they formed the duo Unknown2Scientz. The first song that I heard from them was "A Couple Of Wordz" featuring fellow Canadian female emcee Eternia (y`all know her....LoL) off their 2002 album "Kaotic Conception", it`s a nice battle~type track...

"Second Trymeztah" is most definitely an Underground gem of an album that more headz need to hear. My favorite track off the album is "Raping & Pillaging", it`s a B.I.G. tune! The sample that they flipped for the beat may be familiar to y`all, if it`s not then something`s wrong....LoL, other DoPe tracks include; "Depraved Jenius", "Cl-Click Blao", "Chinese Treez", "Da Saliva Document", "Dunno Dis", "Necessary Illusionz", "Can U Relate?" & "DUI". Here`s an iLL Eternia mixtape that was released in 2009, put together by 2DopeBoyz.com & Kevin Nottingham.com -- also mixed by the always impressive DJ Law. It`s a great collection of tracks, including some raw exclusives! For those that don`t know who Eternia is, no worries. The reason I`m not really going into much detail about this joint is simple, if ya look at the 'tracklist' pic included Eternia gives ya some nice lil` tidbits of info` on each track. QueeN PeN`s "CoNVeRSaTioNs WiTH QueeN"...

Not too sure what Queen Pen is up to now~a~days, heard she writes novels. The last album she dropped was back in 2001, the album itself went by pretty much unnoticed. In comparison to her debut album "My Melody", this one was a straight flop. I`m guessing that it didn`t do too well on the sales side of things, the lack of promo probably didn`t help. I can honestly say that I never seen any sort of promo for it anyway. I do know that she has a music video for "I Got Cha" featuring Teddy Riley...

There were only 2 singles released from this album; "I Got Cha" & "Ghetto Divorce". "True" was also released as a single, but it was released in 1998 -- 3 years before Queen Pen`s "Conversations With Queen" album. "True" is actually the remix of "It`s True", a track from her debut album "My Melody". On the production side of things you have DR Period supplying 4 tracks, Teddy Riley, Tyrone Fyffe & The Marley Boyz all supply 2 tracks each, while Daddy-O supplies 1 joint as does Chop D.I.E.S.E.L. & Cochise...

Overall I`m really only DiGG`n about 7 of the tracks, most of `em are when QP spits the deep emotional & empowering type ish like she does on "Revolution", "For You" & "Baby Daddy". I just find that Queen Pen really shines when she`s kickin` that heart~felt ish, sure she can rock them party joints but it`s just refreshing to hear something that touches your soul. Don`t get it twisted now, she`s far from Lauryn Hill on the mic but she can drop some jewels from time to time. This album isn`t groundbreaking by any means, the reason I`m posting it up is that it`s been passed over by many folks & I`m sure some out there are interested in giving it a listen, so go `head & check it out...

I kind of slept on this joint when it first dropped back in 1998, heard a few tracks & seen some music videos, but didn`t hear their entire 4th album. So when my homie RuSTy KNuCKLeS offered to lend it to me I decided to give it a spin. Overall it`s a decent listen, Cheech & Chong even make a lil` cameo appearance in the skits.....LoL, the beats are handled by DJ Muggs & he does a great job supplying the backdrops for B-Real & Sen Dog`s hazy smoke~laced lyrics...

After giving the album a good listen it`s safe to say that the first half of it will really satisfy ya especially if you dug Cypress Hill`s first few albums. They spark things off with "Looking Through The Eye Of A Pig", B-Real does a great job with the lyrics. He really takes the listener on a journey, you feel the self loathing, fear & paranoia of a crooked~ass cop workin` the beat. It kind of reminded me of "Bad Lieutenant", you know the 1992 movie with Harvey Keitel...

There`s a good number of fast~paced, aggressive songs on the album like "Checkmate", "Riotstarter" & "Nothin` To Lose". The beats remind me of Bomb Squad production from the early 1990`s, Muggs did a great job on `em! Of course there`s some good ol` Weed anthems for the smokers out there, "Dr. Greenthumb" (peep the video here) & "High Times"...

Out of the 2 tracks I DiG "Dr. Greenthumb" more, but "High Times" is still a decent track. I just like the beat on "Dr. Greenthumb" more, it`s nice & hazy. It`s also got a comical lil` info~mercial that happens just before the track begins. Cypress Hill affiliates Chace Infinite & Barron Ricks make a few appearance on the album, as well as West Coast veteran MC Eiht...

Barron Ricks has a good cameo on the album though, he`s featured on 5 tracks in total. Aside from his affiliation with Cypress Hill I don`t really know anything about him. He has sort of a Prodigy from Mobb Deep vibe, but less gun~talk & he`s more on the battle rappin` tip. The only downside is that he doesn`t really switch things up too much so it`s kind of boring after a while. Chace Infinite however rips the hell outta "Feature Presentation", in my opinion he outshines everyone else that`s on the track with him...

There`s a few tracks on here that are so~so to me, "Steel Magnolias" & "Dead Men Tell No Tales", but the last track "Lightning Strikes" is the only track that I didn`t like. It`s probably the Limp Bizkit~vibe, I just couldn`t really get into it. However "Tequila Sunrise" (Peep the video here) the album`s first single, is some smooth Latin DoPeNeSS! Overall "IV" is a solid listen, not quite as CLaSSiC as their first 2 albums, but definitely worth a listen so go on & check it out...

Back again y`all with some ish that I missed out on when it first dropped back in 2000. My homie DiRTy KooL AiD had this kickin` around his crib, he found it while doing some good ol` Spring cleaning....LoL, since I hadn`t heard it before I decided to borrow it so I could share it with the rest of y`all. Figured that there`s probably a few folks out there that haven`t heard this BooTLeG version of Lil` Kim`s "Notorious K.I.M"...

From my understanding the songs on here are mainly left~over tracks from the recording sessions for "Notorious K.I.M", the retail version of the album that was sold in stores, online, etc. It makes for a decent listen, especially if you`re a fan of the Queen Bee. The only down~side about it is that it`s not of the greatest quality, sound~wise. A lot of the tracks sound like they were ripped from a cassette & a few were on the low~side volume~wise, so I made some adjustments to the tracks in an attempt to make `em sound a little bit better than they did -- ensuring not to do anything that would take away the original sound too much...

A few of the tracks on this BooTLeG were previously released, either on a mixtape, an album or as a B-Side on a single. "Chinatown" is actually from DJ Clue`s "The Professional Part 2" album & "Rockin` It" was featured on Funkmaster Flex`s "The Mix Tape Volume IV: 60 Minutes Of Funk". "Queen Bitch Part II [Rmx]" featuring Jay-Z with Biggie on the hook is from Lil` Kim`s "How Many Licks" 12 Inch promo single...

"No Body Do It Better Than Us" featuring T-Boz & Diddy is from the 12 inch single of the same name. "Revolution [Original Version]" is off some mixtape, so unfortunately there`s a lil` yellin` thru the track from the DJ. Aside from the 5 tracks mentioned I believe the remaining 7 joints were meant to be a part of the retail "Notorious K.I.M." album. For whatever reason they were omitted, maybe it was due to sample clearance issues or maybe they just decided to take the album in another direction. So there ya have it, a few unreleased Lil` Kim tracks for y`all Queen Bee fans, enjoy the tunes...

Too $HoRT`s "iN The TRuNK" [12 iNCH]...

Some good ol` Too $hort for y`all today, taking it back to 1992 with this post. There`s 2 reasons why I`m sharing this one with y`all. The first one is simple really; I`m a BiG fan of $hort Dog, but I haven`t heard too many of his 12 inch singles. As a young buck all I heard was Too $hort`s albums, you know the cassettes & then later on the CD`s. So when I do come up on a 12 inch of his it`s kind of iLL for me because I get to hear a few of the more obscure joints. I`m sure that I`m not the only one....LoL, the second reason for sharing this one is because DJ Premier did some production on this single, a fact that may be surprising to some of y`all HiP HoP heads...

On the production side of things Ant Banks, DJ Premier, Pee Wee & even Too $hort deliver some decent bump`N beats. The only track on this 12 inch that I had heard previously was the Too $hort produced "In The Trunk" since it`s from his 1992 album "Shorty The Pimp". I actually enjoy the LP Version more than Ant Banks` "Trunk O` Funk Mix", but Bank`s version is still on the funky tip. One thing that I noticed, on the label of the 12 inch it lists Ant Banks as the producer of the "In The Trunk [Glove Compartment Street Mix]", while DJ Premier is the producer of the Radio Mix & Instrumental. My guess is that it`s a simple mistake & DJ Premier should`ve been given credit for the Street Mix. Another great thing about this single is that you also get "I Ain`t Nothin` But A Dog [Live Rmx]", it`s a bit on the obscure side -- at least to me it is....LoL, anyways that`s enough ramblin` go on & check the music out...

From what I`ve been told Tragedy had recorded the "Alluminati" track first & then later on Noreaga used the same beat for "Norematti"...

So was that snake~like move by Noreaga fuel for the fire that was the beef between Tragedy Khadafi & C-N-N? Who knows, I really have no idea why these kats had friction maybe it was money. That all mighty dollar bill has been know to make folks do some crazy things. Someone needs to school me....LoL, until then enjoy the music...

Good news for y`all M.O.P. fans! I just found out that Billy Danze is working on a solo album, the title for the project is "Behind Gates". So far some of the confirmed features are Busta Rhymes & Slaughterhouse. This should be interesting, always loved the raw aggressive energy that M.O.P. has behind their music.
