HaRPooN MiSSiLe`s "BoY, iNTeRRuPTeD"...

If you DiG RoCK aggression infused with HiP HoP then this 3~man crew from Brampton, Ontario known as Harpoon Missile is definitely for you. Producer Rahmel, emcee Harpoon & his brother Warchild make up the crew, back in 2002 they dropped their debut album "Boy, Interrupted". The title may be a lil` on the lame side, but TRuST me y`all they`ve got an iLL vibe that`s like no other. These paramilitary~garbed suburban guerrillas have been dropp`N their RaP/ HaRD RoCK & ReGGae influenced joints on audiences for over 2 decades...

"We sat down & looked at the direction HiP HoP was taking. I tried to pioneer a different style of Rap. It was about being different & it still is. Our second album won`t sound like our first album..."

Said Harpoon, lead emcee of the group. He also proudly proclaims the group to be outsiders or outcasts...

"It was the way we were brought up with a whole bunch of different genres of music: Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Funk, Disco. A lot of the HiP HoP people don`t understand what we`re trying to do -- even down to my Rap style, because a lot of times I`ll sing a chorus like a rocker. We toured with (Vancouver rock band & labelmates) Shocore for a while & found that a lot of the people at the Rock events took to the music a little better than the actual HiP HoP crowd at the moment..."

FoXy BRoWN`s "The i.N.G.A. SeSSiONs [MiXTaPe]"...

I know I`m just a lil` late with the news, but for those that have been either under a rock or smokin` that RoCK....LoL, my shorty Foxy Brown is now a free woman! Actually she`s been free since April 18, 2008 after serving 8 months of her 1 year sentence stemming from that whole nail salon incident. Hopefully the time served mellow`D her out some so she can actually give us that DaMn "Black Roses" album...

She did give us a lil` appetizer with "Brooklyn`s Don Diva", a decent album (I give it a 3.5 out of 5) but it`s still not that "Black Roses" ish! Even Fox Boogie knows it `cuz she`s not too happy with the way Chaz "Slim" Williams, CEO of Black Hand Entertainment, put "Brooklyn`s Don Diva" together...

Revealed Experiences Dealing with Life In Elevation is the acronym that the Rexdale HiP HoP crew Red Life uses to describe what they`re all about. EmceeS Remy & Cryp2Nite flex their Toronto street hardened flowS over some grimy beats provided by Swiff (Da Grass Roots), Klean Kut, K-Note, Quattro Cinqo, Mr. Attic (Da Grass Roots) & Wriggs with features from fellow T-DoT emceeS Saukrates & Ghetto Concept for their 1999 EP release "Exodus Prt. II". Standout trackS (my opinion of course:) include the amp`D up "Yagga Yaw Yaw" featuring Saukrates & the dark soundin` "Nobody`s Safe" featuring Ghetto Concept. YouNG LaY`s "BLaCK `n DaNGeRouS"...

Was in the mood for some good ol` Bay Area ish so I decided to dust off Young Lay`s 1996 debut album "Black `n Dangerous". With BaNGiN` ass beatS provided by Khayree, Young Lay dropped his distinct tone & flow. Holdin` nothing back, delivering an uncensored & unapologetic view of hood~Life. The album itself is really slept on, so I`m gon` do my part for HiP HoP & slap the sleeperS from SLuMBeR LaND & introduce y`all to Lathan Williams also known as Young Lay...

Honestly this kat should have a movie made about his Life, `cuz it`s some soul~breakin` shit! Only thing is, the ending wouldn`t be so happy. Read along & you`ll see why I feel this way. Young Lay started out rappin` in Vallejo, California, taking part in the Bay Area Rap scene that included such artists as Mac Dre (R.i.P.), E-40, 2Pac (R.i.P.) & Shock G from Digital Underground, amongst many others. In `96 he dropped his first album "Black `n Dangerous" which spawned the hit single "All About My $Fetti", a track that was also featured on the soundtrack for the film "New Jersey Drive". Sounds great right? Well I didn`t mention what happened before the release of his first album...

Several months before "Black `n Dangerous" was released, Lay was shot in the head point~blank range while sitting in a car. FolkS say that jealousy from street katS was the root cause of the shooting, the shooter was never found. Lay recovered remarkably, but was comatose for several days. You`d figured that was enough right?...NoPe, it`s almost like someone didn`t want Young Lay to release his "Black `n Dangerous" album because a few weeks before the album was set to drop Lay`s girlfriend Daphne Boyden was murdered in her home, set on fire & both her & Lay`s 25~day old son Le-Zhan was kidnapped. Due to the numerous personal tragedies & mishaps Young Lay only recorded one more album, dedicated to his missing son Le-Zhan & his deceased baby`s mama Daphne, the album was titled "Unsolved Mysteries" released in 1998. Lay was later tried & convicted for armed robbery, sentenced to 12 years & is currently serving that time at Susanville State Prison...

I told y`all that his Life was some movie script shit! So without further delay, here`s "Black `n Dangerous".
