KRS-One`s "KRS-One [HeRBan DeLuXe VeRSioN]"...

After playin` the hell outta my "Return Of The Boom Bap" tape back in the day, ya best believe that I was super stoked when KRS-One dropped his self titled second solo album 9 days before my 15th birthday in 1995. I still hadn`t quite upgraded to a CD player at the time so I eventually copped the cassette thru one of those mail order tape/CD clubs, either Columbia House or BMG Music. I can`t really remember which, it`s been a long while since I`ve seen the tape, it`s still at my parents` crib in storage somewhere. I also played the fuck out of that "KRS-One" cassette, it`s a great album!!!

My only gripe with it is all them DaMn interludes in between most of the songs. I understand why they are included; either he needed an ego stroke or just wanted to show the listeners how Hip Hop he is by gettin` shout outs from many of Hip Hop`s key players. It all depends on how ya want to look at it. Either way, after hearing it once or twice you really don`t need to hear it again & again. Unfortunately for me since I had the tape the only way to skip the interludes was to hit the ol` fast forward button on my stereo`s tape deck or walkman. So once I had enough money saved up I made the upgrade & bought the CD...

Unfortu-FuCKiN-Ly you still have to skip the interludes on the CD version of the album. However it`s a little easier to do this time around, hit the skip/next track button. The interludes should have been separate tracks, but for some odd reason KRS intended for us to hear these shout outs upon every listen. Maybe it was Jive Records` choice to format the album like that, who knows for sure? Either way it`s not something that I particularly enjoy about the album! I just want to dive into the head noddin` Boom Bapp`N sounds whenever I throw it on. FuCK all these interludes!....LoL, so it was only fitting for me to put my HeRBaN DeLuXe touch on this KRS classic!!! 


With this VeRSioN I didn`t have to adjust any of the volume on the songs, they were all at a decent level. I simply separated the previously mentioned shout outs/interludes from the songs & made them individual tracks. I did boost the volume on some of the interludes because I found them to be a little on the low side, also I decided to separate the lil` 'taggin` intro' that starts before "Out For Fame" & made it it`s own track so we can get right into the song. The "Outro" was simply separated from the end of "Health, Wealth, Self". The 3 bonus tracks come from a variety of sources; the "Rappaz R. N. Dainja [Kenny Parker Mix]" comes from a 12 Inch single, "The Truth [Original Version]" comes from some untitled KRS-One compilation that I found on my hard~drive (so unfortunately I have no clue where it truly came from, see what I did there?...LoL) & the "1-2 Pass It [Stretch Armstrong Rmx]" came from one of the members on the Philaflava T.R.O.Y. forum. Essentially this is the way that the album should have been formatted, my opinion of course. Enjoy...

DJ DiGGa PReSeNTs: "The GoLDeN ERa ReMiXeS VoL. 1"...

Figured that I`d take a lil` break from re~uPP`n & post somethin` that wasn`t up on here yet, so here comes the fun.....LoL, what I have to share with y`all today is a mixtape that was released back in 2008 by DJ Digga titled "The Golden Era Remixes Vol. 1". I shall be honest with y`all, up until a few hours ago I didn`t know who this kat was. I still don`t really know anything else about him expect that he`s reppin` Sweden (you can peep his blog here). The good news though is that it doesn`t matter much because his talent truly speaks for itself, at least on this project anyway. What ya get on this 10 track 27 minute long mixtape is some great beats & some good remixes. Some remixes are much better than others, but even the joints that aren`t super spectacular still have DoPe beats behind them. Honestly these remixes will have you wishing that the project was much longer in running time. Digga does a great job choosing some gems from the `90's to put his own twist on. Standout remixes for me are; Nas` "It Ain`t Hard To Tell", Saukrates` "Father Time", Rasco`s "The Unassisted", Amerie`s "Talkin` To Me" & Das EFX`s "Real Hip Hop". My fav` joint on here is the Saukrates remix, definitely a banger! The other joints are decent, but I found that even though the beats were awesome they just didn`t mesh totally with the vocals. So there you have it y`all, check it out for ya`self it`s definitely worth the 27 minutes that you`ll spend listening to it...

DJ Rei DouBLe R & G-Bo The PRo`s "THRoW BaCK: BeST Of VoL. #11 & #12"

First off all, BiG uPs to the homie RuSTy NuTZ! He`s the one that hooked me up with the joint that I`m sharing with y`all today. I`m not sure if he`s the one that personally ripped the mixtape from his collection or if he just passed the files onto me, but either way I`m very thankful. So thanks very much kind sir, the hook up is very much appreciated! Now if any of y`all visitors out there have something that you would like to share with the masses, just holla at me & together we shall get it out there to `em. I`m really trying to gather up a nice collection of the classic mixtapes from the early & late 1990`s because there`s some great tunes on `em. Not only that though, that`s when mixtapes were actual mixtapes not like the ish that gets released now~a~days....LoL, so hook `em up!!!

I got to be honest & say that until RuSTy NuTZ hooked me up with this mixtape I had not heard anything done by DJ Rei Double R & his partner in crime G-Bo The Pro, it`s a DaMn shame I know! Trust me you don`t have to tell me....LoL, anyways for those that aren`t familiar with these 2 kats today`s the day to change that. These 2 fellas reppin` New York have released some major classic mixtapes! It`s definitely a pleasure & an honor to be able  to share with y`all this "Throw Back: Best Of Vol. #11 & #12" tape. What this mixtape consists of is some tracks from their #11 tape titled "Da Stopper" which was released back in March of 1992 & also some joints from their #12 tape titled "Old To Da New" which came out in June of 1992. If you`re a fan of Hip Hop from the early `90's then you should recognize most of the gems on here. The only joint that I found to be a lil` out of place was Mary J. Blige`s "You Remind Me" & that`s only because it`s the sole R&B song on here. It`s a good tune, just a lil` out of place in my opinion...

The only joint on here that I wasn`t DiGG`n much was the "Freestyle" from L.G. (Lyrical Genius), it just wasn`t too impressive. Now to be fair it`s a true freestyle not some pre~written flow stuff so he doesn`t lose my respect, especially since he does drop a nice joint with "Trinidadian" (one of my favorite joints on this tape). On that one he sounds kind of like Slick Rick with the delivery. Until listening to this tape I hadn`t heard anything from L.G. a.k.a. Lyrical Genius so it was kind of a treat, one of the bonuses of discovering this gem of a tape. Another bonus is the awesome remix that Double R does with Rakim`s "Know The Ledge". The original version is my favorite Rakim joint hands down & not only because it reminds me of my favorite movie "Juice" either, it`s just a DoPe gem straight up. So once I heard Double R flippin` it the way he did I was an instant fan because he did it so nicely!!!

One thing that I need to mention about this tape is that there`s actually 21 tracks to it & not 20 like the cover lists. The 3rd track is actually Cypress Hill`s "Real Estate", everything else follows as is on the cover after track 3. The only thing about the 3rd track was that it was pretty jacked up, maybe the tape was eaten by a tape deck & that song was the unfortunate victim, I don`t know......LoL, but to remedy that I just cut off the jacked up parts & mixed in the Cypress Hill song so you`ll notice a slight difference if you listen close enough. The only issue is that because the song was so fucked up I couldn`t tell where it originally ends on the tape so I just left the entire song on there. Some folks may not appreciate what I did & that`s fine (I didn`t do it for you!) I really just did this for my personal collection & besides it makes for a smoother listen anyway. So there you have it go `head & check out this gem...

FRaNKeNSTeiN`s "LiVe FRoM NeW YoRK (The ReMiXX ALBuM) [PRoMo ViNyL]"...

Before everybody & their mama started doing remix albums producer/ rapper Frankenstein did it back in 1996, even though it`s more of an EP than an actual full~length. The album in question is titled "Live From New York (The Remixx Album)", the cover says 'Remix' but the sticker label on the vinyl says 'Remixx'......LoL, either way it`s all produced by Toronto`s own Frankie Ano a.k.a. Funkmaster Frankenstein b.k.a. Frankenstein. Some of y`all may be a lil` more familiar with his album titled "UV" that was released a year later in 1997, with the tracks "Rain Is Gone", "All Hands" & "UV" to name a few. If not don`t you worry, I`ll be posting up some more of his stuff in the future...

As for "Live From New York" what you get is a total of 8 remixes from Frankenstein, some joints are much better than others. Sure there isn`t anything that`s super spectacular on here, but Frankie does do some decent work. Standout remixes for me are "Masta I.C.", "Danger", "If I Ruled The World" & "Fakin` Jax". Not too sure why this was released as some double~vinyl since it all could have probably fit on one record, but whatever it makes for a decent listen. If you`re lookin` for a lil` twist on some early '90`s joints then you should definitely check this out...

MoBB DeeP`s "The DuNN LaNGuaGe VoL. 1 [HeRBaN DeLuXe VeRSioN]"...

What`s happenin` y`all? Hope all is well. Today I`m gon` BLeSS the blog with another HeRBaN DeLuXe VeRSioN, this time around Mobb Deep`s "The Dunn Language Vol. 1" gets the HeRBaN LyRiX treatment. Now for those that don`t know about "The Dunn Language" I`ll share with ya what I know of it. It`s a bootleg & I believe that it was released on the `Net back in 2002, it`s quite possible that it was put together by a fan or fans. The bootleg contained a lot of unreleased Mobb Deep joints, some 12 inch cuts & a few released cuts like "Hoodlum" off the soundtrack of the same name. It`s a pretty nice collection of Mobb Deep tracks, the only down side about this bootleg is that the sound quality of a few tracks was pretty bad. A whole lot of pops & clicks, especially at the ends of the tracks. Not only that there were a few tracks that were actually cut short for some reason. For example "Microphone Master [Sewa/ 41 St. Side Rmx]" cut off at 3:10 when it`s actually 5:07 in length, while "Know Da Game" cut off at 1:46 when it`s actually 4:27 long...

 I figured that since this was a pretty decent bootleg, track~wise anyway I wanted to give it a lil` revamp. So what I decided to do was replace all the tracks that sounded like ish with better sounding ones (well the best quality I could find anyway), replaced the joints that were cut short with their full~length counterparts, split the lil` interlude that was before "It Could Happen To You" & made it a separate track, replaced the "Hoodlum" track that was track 6 with the version from the soundtrack because the version that was there originally was off some Dirty Harry mixtape & was more of a blend~mix (don`t worry it`s still included, I just pushed it further down the tracklist) & then finally I added 2 more joints to the mix to make it fill up an 80 minute CD, oh yeah almost forgot I also cut off the lil` DJ shoutin` at the beginning of the first track. So enjoy the revamped version, BiG uPs to whoever put the original version together because it was truly appreciated...

DaS EFX`s "DeaD SeRiouS" [VHS TaPe RiP]...

Got a lil` gift for y`all today & it comes courtesy of the homie MiSTa DiLLiGaF, I`m not too sure if he ripped this from the VHS tape or not but either way BiG uPs goes out to him for passing it along to me! This lil` gift that I`m talkin` about is a home video (no not shot by Das EFX, but home video meaning that you watched the video at home in your VCR....c`mon son it was 1992) that Das EFX released as promo back in 1992 for their debut album "Dead Serious", so it shouldn`t be so surprising that this video shared the same title as their album. Although the tape is kind of rare the video itself isn`t really all that mind blowin`, but for nostalgic purposes it`s cool...

The running time is just under 30 minutes, you get to see a few of their music videos, some short lil` interviews & a couple live performances. In total there`s probably about 6 or 7 minutes of Skoob & Krayzy Drayzy talkin` about where they`re from, how they started as a group, describin` their styles, etc. The lil` interview segments take place in between their music videos & live performances, while everything was shot on the set of the music video for "Straight From The Sewer". During the interview segments you can see that they both come across as some regular humble kats that love their craft to the max`. Something to take notice of is when the live performances start, it`s kind of cool to see Redman workin` behind the 1`s & 2`s as Das` DJ. So do ya`self a favor & check it out for ya`self, enjoy...

Got a DoPe lil` mixtape from DJ Scratch, it`s kind of like a "best of" or "greatest hits" of EPMD joints & it was released back in 2006. It`s definitely worth a listen, I mean you got a whole lot of EPMD gems here -- even a demo version of "Rampage" (it`s the last track). Now originally it was just all one long mp3 file, but I decided to separate the tracks for easier listening.
