After numerous requests from plenty of folks over my many years of inactivity upon this blog & now just recently finding an external hard-drive with this joint on it, it was only fair to make sure that I shared it with y`all. I can`t recall where exactly I got it from file~wise, the HD is over 26 years old. It`s not my rip, so unfortunately it`s only in 192 -- no high definition ish here. However I did BuMP uP the volume on a few tracks for listening`s sake because they were crazy low. HSD were either PuFF`n Trees in the high school bathroom, comin` late or just straight skippin` class. The High Skool Drop-Owts consists of members Marc Tha Murderah & Meen Green. They are most definitely more on the 'underground' tip, reppin` the L.A. scene. Their Freestyle Fellowship association shows just how much ReSPeCT they hold because they take this Hip Hop ish serious! Back in 1997 HSD put together an EP titled "Lungs Like A Rasta" that was unfortunately only ever released on vinyl thru Beats & Rhymes Records. The EP itself consists of 8 songs & 1 instrumental; featuring production from Fatjack, J. Sumbi, The Nonce & M.D. Himself with the lone guest appearance by Ganjah K. Sadly as I repost this music for y`all I just came across another lesser know loss to Hip Hip, that`s right Darrin "Meen Green" Johnson passed away August 14, 2020 from Cancer...

W`ud up my peoples? Hope all is well! Today we`re gon` head down South on a Bounce music tip. We`re going to dust off an EP that was released by Cash Money Records in 1996 from Magnolia Shorty. I believe that it was Birdman who discovered her which would explain how she became the 2nd lady signed to Cash Money Records, Ms. Tee was the first. Also called the Queen Of Bounce, she actually received her stage name Magnolia Shorty from another New Orleans legend, Magnolia Slim (a.k.a. Soulja Slim). Seein` as how both came from the rough & dangerous Magnolia Projects it was a natural choice. Paying her dues she collaborated with Juvenile & the Hot Boys, eventually releasing this EP that we`re talkin` about now...
The "Monkey On Tha Dick" EP was entirely produced by Mannie Fresh & features guest appearances from fellow label mates B.G. & Juvenile. This is definitely for the Bounce fans since 4 of the tracks on here cater to that spectrum of music. It makes total since considering that was her lane & these tracks display just that. Especially on the title track, which is exactly why it received both an explicit & radio version. I wish that it would`ve had a music video. Guess Baby & them didn`t quite have enough ca$h money yet, or maybe it was more of a local/regional hit. Either way it is definitely a solid Bounce track! "Charlie Whop!!" is in the same vain as the title track. "Soldier Chant" is the weakest joint on this EP in my opinion, had it been like 2 minutes shorter I guess it wouldn`t have been so bad but it just goes on for far too long! "Magnolia Shorty" has Juvenile & B.G. making an appearance on the only non~Bounce joint on the EP. The trio display good chemistry together & deliver a track that would be right at home on any Hot Boys album...
Unfortunately for her family & the Hip Hop world on December 20, 2010 Renetta Lowe a.k.a. Magnolia Shorty was shot 26 times & murdered while sitting in a car with another occupant in her gated apartment complex. Unlike many of those Hip Hop murders this case was actually closed & those responsible charged. On February 22, 2017 both McCoy "Rat" Walker & Terrioues "T-Red" Owney, were found guilty of the murder. It`s because of those fools that the world will never get to hear an album from Shorty & that`s a DaMn shame! She had a lot of talent & from what I heard was working on a full length album around the time of her death. "My Boy" a collabo` with Kourtney Heart is one of the last songs she recorded before her death...
First off, let me just address this lil` issue so I can be done with it & move on. If you think that you`re going to get under my skin or waste my time by trolling me on this blog you`re completely mistaken! Not only that you`re wasting your time because that ish simply doesn`t phase me. I just find it fuckin` hilarious that there`s actually some people out there that would take to the time to visit my blog, download the FREE music & then complain about something as stupid as me calling the post a "Tuesday Tape Rip" when the post is actually posted Wednesday at say 12:05am....LoL, get the fuck out of here with that bullshit & suck a sandpaper~covered elephant dick! Anyway, today`s Tuesday Tape Rip comes courtesy of the homie Dizz-E Go-Mack. So BiG uPs & a thank you go out to him. What he shared with me is something that I didn`t even know existed until he hooked me up with it, so my apologies for not knowing anything about it. Dizz-E did manage to tell me a very small amount of info` about it, but not a whole lot. So the tape at hand is by G-Pac & it`s a 6~track EP titled "Pac-N' Um Up" that was released back in 1995 by Geta Grip Records. G-Pac represents Oklahoma City, Oklahoma & that my friends is all that I know....LoL, again my apologies y`all. As always if you know anything else about this EP don`t hesitate to school me! The vibe of the EP is definitely more on the G-Funk side, lyrically G-Pac isn`t going to blow your mind with punchlines that`ll have you hittin` rewind, that`s alright though because they do deliver some decent raps. Standout joints for me are; "Droppin` Bombs", "Servin` Funk", "Ain`t No Fak-n" & "Genuine Playaz". So there ya have it y`all, go `head & check it out for ya`selves. Don`t let the fact that it may be unknown to you shy you away from it. Look at it as a potential treasure, a diamond in the rough if you will. Ya never know what you may find! I take this approach with everything that I haven`t heard before because I`ve not only found tunes that I had actually been searching for for years, but I`ve also found some hidden gems so enjoy...
What`s goin` on y`all? Hope all is well & Life has been treating you good. Today I have a lil` somethin` that comes courtesy of my homie SNiCKLe FRiTZ, so BiG uPs goes out to him! What I have to share with y`all is a lil` EP from a group called Straight Up who reps Louisville, Kentucky. Now to be honest when I tried lookin` `em up online I found that they were also called Louisville`s Own, so I could be wrong about their name. The EP`s cover is not all that clear when it comes to the group`s name, so if I`m wrong & someone out there knows what`s up feel free to school me...
As for Straight Up the group consists of 2 members (brothers perhaps?) Darrin & Terrance Lee (a.k.a. Gangsta T). They both handle the EP`s production as well as the rhyme writing. They released this EP on their own label back in 1995 & I believe that this is their first release. Anyways let`s get to the EP shall we? At 4 tracks deep it`s a pretty short EP, but seeing as how it`s an independently released project it`s totally understandable. When you first glance at all the titles of the songs on this EP you can surely notice that Death or Murder seems to be the main theme of the project, but that doesn`t make it a stale of boring listen...
Now something that you should note before you get to listening to the EP, it was ripped from a cassette tape (not sure if it was ever released on CD) so the sound quality is far from HD but it`s not totally terrible either. I found the original files that SNiCKLe FRiTZ hooked me up with were a bit on the low side volume~wise so I made some small adjustments to make them a lil` louder. Anyways the EP opens up with "Dyin` Is So Easy", a joint that has gloomy & dreary vibe to it. The hook is a lil` simplistic, but their verses make up for it in turn making the song a lot more entertaining. "Death Zide" follows the EP`s opener, it`s got somewhat of a West Coast vibe to it. The hook has more of a harmonized feel to it while Straight Up delivers some aggressive lyrics. It`s my second favorite joint on the EP, definitely one to check out...
The third song on the EP is the title track "Straight Up", this joint without question is the EP`s best song. The beat`s quick tempo & killer loops will get ya` head noddin` while you get into Straight Up`s verses, it`s no doubt the show stealer! The EP comes to a close with "Victim Of A Murder". It`s another joint that has more of a West Coast vibe to it, I think that most folks will enjoy it. Overall the EP`s not too bad of a listen, 3 of the 4 tracks are pretty solid. The first song on the EP is probably my least favorite of the 4, but it`s not a wack track. I just couldn`t really get into it all that much. You can definitely tell that the group was heavily influenced by the West Coast, at least when it comes to their beats anyway. Lyrically & vocally they carry themselves pretty well over the instrumentals. So there you have it y`all, go `head & give this EP a listen I`m sure you`ll enjoy it...
I have been listening to a lot of DMX lately, so it`s only right that I share this lil` free EP that he dropped to spark a lil` buzz for his newest album "Undisputed", which is really DoPe by the way. I know that a lot of folks talk ish about X because of all the arrests & so~called drug problems, say what you will. To me though X is one of a dying breed, a real artist. He tells it like it is & he`s not afraid to do so....LoL
On "The Weigh In" you get 6 tracks, an intro & 4 interludes. Production~wise Dr. Dre, Rich Kid, Dame Grease, Niam Son & Wayno handle the beats while DMX invites Big Stan, Snoop Dogg, Andreena Mills & Tyrese to contribute their talents to the EP. After the intro "Where I Wanna Be" kicks things off over Niam Son`s melodic piano~driven beat, X sounds great spittin` them heart~felt bars of human vulnerability. As for Big Stan`s contribution, I gotta say that he sounds kind of like Puffy....LoL, maybe I`m just really high or something though, regardless X kills this joint!!!
Dogs of the world unite on "Shit Don`t Change", Snoop & DMX spit their Life`s philosophies over a beat produced by Dr. Dre that was previously used for Snoop`s "Boss Life". Now X may not like Drake.....LoL, but he does use one of the beats from Drake`s "Comeback Season Mixtape" that Rich Kid produced & that track is "Last Hope" (the original featured fellow Canadian artists Kardinal Offishall & Andreena Mills on the hook - you can peep that song here). Andreena Mills is still on the hook while DMX spit some more of that deep emotional ish, apparently some folks have this track titled as "On The Frontline" (I think "Last Hope" makes more sense so that`s what I labeled it as....LoL)...
Wayno provides a good thumpin` beat on "Where My Dogs At?" for X to spit some of that fiery tough~talkin` shit, short but sweet none~the~less. "That`s My Baby" features Tyrese, obviously this joint has an R&B vibe to it - let`s call this one the 'ladies track'.....LoL, it`s not bad though, the beat`s nice & for some reason when it`s playin` I can`t help but sing the hook.....Ahahahahahaha, anyway the Dame Grease produced "Right Or Wrong" ends things off for this EP & I gotta say that it`s probably the best track of the bunch. It`s nice to hear X collab`N with Dame Grease again, they`ve done some great work together especially on DMX`s debut "It`s Dark & Hell Is Hot". The drums that Dame laces the beat with are sinister in sound while X reaches into himself & spits some of that CLaSSiC Ruff Ryders ish. So there ya have it, go `head & check out the music...

What`s good my peoples? I hope all is well with y`all! Today I have for y`all a lil` somethin` that I didn`t even know existed. Now it`s not really rare or anything, I just wasn`t aware of this release. What I`m talkin` about is the double EP album that Da Brat released back in 1996 titled "Anuthafunkdafiedtantrum". If you`re a fan of Da B-R-A-T then you quickly caught on to the fact that the title is just a combination of her first 2 album titles; "Funkdafied" & "Anuthatantrum". What you get with this joint is a few songs from both previously mentioned albums, however they`re edited for radio play, or "Rated PG" for the church folks as it states on the album`s cover art. You also get a few songs that weren`t included on either "Funkdafied" or "Anuthatantrum" & those tracks are; "Sittin` On Top Of The World Part II", "Funkdafied [DJ Club Mix]", "Fa All Y`all [Rmx]" & "Da B-Side" featuring Biggie. The Biggie & Brat collabo` is also featured on the "Bad Boys Soundtrack", both are the same Radio Versions...
One thing about this album is that they clearly didn`t need to make it double CDs, it all definitely could`ve fit onto one disc. I get that each CD is an EP, but it would`ve been a lot cheaper for the label......LoL, oh yeah this was released before Napster & music sharing blew up on the Interwebs so the label had more then a few extra dollar$ to spare. Anyway, the first disc contains clean versions of tracks from Da Brat`s "Anuthtantrum" album, while the second disc contains clean versions of tracks from her "Funkdafied" album. You would think that they would`ve had the order of the discs switched since "Funkdafied" dropped first, but that`s another story. The first disc sounds like this...."Sittin` On Top Of The World", "Just A Little Bit More" & "Keepin` It Live" are edited by simply muting the cusses, no BeePs here. "Let`s Get High" is edited by added record scratches over the cusses, while the hook is replaced with the sounds of someone takin` a hit of some Weed instead of "We can all get high". Da Brat reworks her lyrics for this version of "Ghetto Love" featuring T-Boz of TLC fame. "Sittin` On Top Of The World Part II" is more like a remix than a sequel. The beat`s decent while the cusses are muted, I wonder if there`s an unedited version of this track out there???
Disc 2 gives us "Funkdafied", "Fa All Y`all", "Mind Blowin`", "Give It 2 You" & "Da B-Side" edited with reworked lyrics. The "Funkdafied [DJ Club Mix]" is pretty good & the "Fa All Y`all [Rmx]" is nice & funky. Out of these 2 CD`s I gotta say that I dig the second one a lot more, mainly because Da Brat took some extra time to rewrite her lyrics so the tracks weren`t annoyingly edited. I wonder why they didn`t choose to do things the same way for the first disc? Anyway you`ve read my lil` thoughts on the album, go `head & check it out...
I first posted up this Slick Rick joint up over 3 years ago with not much info`. Some time has passed, but I did learn a lil` more about it so with that being said I`ll shall share with y`all the very little info` gained. Spoiler, just as I suspectedthe "Ricky D EP" is a bootleg released in 2002 on vinyl thru Archives Inc.. I`m still unsure of the production credits for this, but the obvious one is clearly that the last track "World Renown" was produced by Pete Rock. Anyway that`s all I have for y`all, enjoy the tunes. My favorite joint on here is "Get A Job"...

I have some more E-A-Ski for y`all listening pleasure. Sure it`s just a
short lil` EP, but it`s pretty DoPe none~the~less. The production was
of course handled by both E-A Ski & CMT. Out of the 7 tracks on here
there`s actually only 4 songs, the remaining tracks are skits &
interludes. The first track "Blast If I Have To" was also featured on the soundtrack to Ice Cube`s CLaSSiC 1995 film "Friday".
What`s cool about this version though is that it has a lil` intro to
it. In it these two kats plan on jackin` E-A-Ski for his Beamer ridin`
on chrome, only thing is that Ski seen `em comin` & he turns the
tables around on `em then the song starts...
The second track is a Radio version of "Blast If I Have To",
what`s kind of DoPe is that it contains alternate lyrics so it`s not
all censored out. I wish more artists would take this route for their
Radio versions. The third track "The Interview"
features radio vet` Billy Jam & it`s exactly just what it states, a
quick 37 second interview. Ski`s pager goes off in the middle of
it....LoL, Jam asks him where he`s from, 'East Side Oakland' is his response. Ski also let`s listeners know that he`s been doin` this Rap thang since 1983. The fourth track "When The Smoke Clears" is a nice G`d up joint backed by a thumpin` beat...
"West Coast Rebuttal" is more of an interlude. It`s a lil` funny to me, especially the lil` 'fuck ya` mama' intro to it....LoL, E-A-Ski`s on the "Fuck Ya` Mama Show"
& the host asks him how he feels about the whole East Coast/ West
Coast thing, he voices his opinion & rides for the West. "O.P.D."
is a short skit, the cops pull over E-A-Ski (I`m guessin` it`s him)
driving in a green BMW. The pigs are yellin` some racist ish while
demanding him to get on the ground, then the skit ends. The final track "Same Ole Nigga" has E-A-Ski speakin` about the jealous haters & doubters...
My
boy DiRTy KooL AiD hooked me up with this one so I need to thank him,
however I found that the volume of all the tracks was just way too low
so I had to adjust the volume on `em. Go `head & check it out, let

Takin` it back to 1994 for your listening pleasure today, this EP is Bone Thugs-N-Harmony`s first release after they signed with Eazy-E`s Ruthless Records & revamped their name (changed from Bone Enterpri$e to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony). What we get is 6 actual songs, an Intro & an Instrumental -- what more do you expect for an EP?....LoL, anyway the production is handled by DJ U-Neek, DJ Yella, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony & Eazy-E even steps up to help produce the EP`s Intro (along with DJ Yella). The features are kept to a minimum & come from Eazy-E & Shatasha Williams (I believe she was a member of Mo Thugs)...
"Thuggish Ruggish Bone" was the EP`s lead single, it did pretty well on the Billboard Charts. "Foe Tha Love Of $" was the EP`s second single & it features the late & great Eazy-E. Something interesting to mention about "Foe Tha Love Of $", it shares the same beat as a song from 1991 by Yomo & Maulkie (another group signed to Ruthless Records) off their debut album titled "Are U Xperienced?" (The song`s titled "For The Love Of Money", what a surprise....LoL), I believe that DJ Yella also produced the track. Guess he felt that Yomo & Maulkie didn`t rock it right......LoL, either way I`m glad he gave it to the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony `cuz they ended up droppin` a great song with their version of the track...
On the "Intro" Eazy-E opens up the EP by introducing the World to the group newly signed (at the time) to his Ruthless Records label over a slowed down but sinister beat that includes gun shot samples while Eazy-E`s voice itself is also slowed down to give it an almost demonic sound. "Mr. Oujia" (misspelled on the album`s back cover art as "Mr. Quija") is a short lil` interlude of sorts that has Bone Thugs harmonizin` over no beat but the cold winds blowin`. Chantin`, "Ouija are you with me? I want to know my future. Will I die a bloody murda?" It`s kind of creepy, but it definitely does help set a darker tone for the rest of the EP. The lead single "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" is the track that really started the spark for Bone Thugs. It`s a straight CLaSSiC; the DJ U-Neek produced beat, the hook sung beautifully by Shatasha Williams & then there`s the verses from Bone themselves. You definitely get to hear how each member of the group compliments the next member`s style...
"No Surrender" follows (some of y`all may have also heard this joint on the compilation album "One Million Strong"), it`s another DoPe production by DJ U-Neek. Bone Thugs ride this one really well, the synthed out vocals on the hook are pretty iLL too. Rhythm D provides a nice dark, creepin` up on your enemies type beat with it`s nice trunk rattlin` bassline on "Down Foe My Thang" while the Thugs-N-Harmony flex rapid~fire flows. The EP`s title track "Creepin` On Ah Come Up" is next & it`s produced by DJ U-Neek, with it`s mellowed out beat Bone Thugs plot & scheme about how`s they`re gon` get that ca$h. The second single off the EP, "Foe Tha Love Of $" follows & it features a guest appearance from Eazy-E. As mentioned before the track`s produced by DJ Yella while the Thugs-N-Harmony deliver some of their more memorable verses over the beat. The instrumental for "Foe Tha Love Of $" closes out the EP (actually titled "Moe Cheeze") but it`s got a lil` extra done to the beat with a woman moanin` on a sexual tip & then some piano keys are also added to the mix. So there ya have it go `head & check out the music, oh yeah the music videos are in mp4 file so ya should be able to watch `em on your i-Pods...

Not really too sure what the story is behind this lil` EP from KRS-One. My homie DiRTy KooL AiD got this as a CD-R from a KRS-One concert, at least that`s the story he told me....LoL, in all honesty it`s far from KRS-One`s best work. I`m guessin` it`s just a lil` somethin` he dropped as promo before "Meta-Historical" the collabo` album with True Master. It`s just under 20 minutes, that`s why my guess is that it`s strictly for promo. Either way give it a listen if you`re curious...
