What`s good? What`s happenin`?? What`s lovely ya`ll??? Earlier today I was going thru some more of the files on that external harddrive that I`ve been tellin` y`all about in some of the previous posts & found this somewhat of a rarity, physically anyway. Figured it was only right to share it with y`all because honestly I feel it should be heard by more folks! What`s great about this one is that I can tell y`all how I ended up with this. It was waaaaaaaay back in 2007, it was probably in the Summer or early Fall. The homie Rusty Needle put the CD on while we were celebrating 420 at 7:30 in the PM. 😉 Instantly I had him Nero CD burning it for me! At the time I hadn`t heard it, I was blown away by the Nate Dogg feature. Can`t lie, I`ve always dug Nate`s skills musically oth rappin` & especially the singing! The fact that he had done a song with Scarborough`s (Toronto stand up!) Bishop Brigante was incredibly awesome in my ears. The subject matter of said tune only made me dig it more.😆Aside from funding, that`s the only reason why this tune didn`t get the shine that it truly should have received. Perhaps the song was too far ahead of its time, I`m just guessing that Bishop`s label couldn`t afford the video fees. This single should most definitely received a music video in my opinion!!!

RuFFa`s "RePReSeNTiN` [PRoMo CD SiNGLe]"...

What`s up y`all? I hope that all it well with you! Yeah-yeah, I know that it`s been a long while & I bet ya thought I had given up on the ol` blog? Nope, just busy with Life you know the deal if you`re a dad! Anyway, I am back from the hiatus to share with y`all a lil` promo CD single that I dug out & dusted off from my personal collection. I haven`t really seen this online, it may be out there somewhere but I sure haven`t come across it in my searches anyway. This joint was released way back in 1996 thru MCA Records & it`s by Ruffa. Now to be straight up & honest I could not find any info` out there on this kat so I can`t really provide y`all with a BiG write up on him unfortunately. All I can really tell ya is that if you are familiar with the Ragga/Reggae HiP HoP artist Mad Lion & you DiG his tunes then you`ll more than likely appreciate this joint because they`re pretty much from the same lane with the style of music that they do. Ruffa has a voice that sounds like he could be a distant relative of Cookie Monster.....LoL, but not in a bad way, it just gives him a very distinct sound on the mic...

To my knowledge Ruffa has only released one album & a handful of singles in the mid `90's (1995-96). The title of his only album is "A Diamond In The Ruff" which was released in 1996 by MCA Records, once I get a chance to find it in my collection I`ll be sharing it with y`all. Anyway, let`s get back to the single at hand shall we? On this single you get 4 joints in total; the Clean & Dirty Versions, the Instrumental & the Acappella (which is the Dirty Version in case you were curious) of "Representin`". The song was produced by Ruffa himself & also features the always DoPe Kool G. Rap. Both kats spit some straight hardcore lyrics over the beat which doesn`t disappoint either. I have to say that "Representin`" is probably the best song from Ruffa`s debut & only album. So y`all should definitely check this single out & give it a listen...

213`s "GRouPie LuV (G-FuNK ReMiXeS) [CD SiNGLe]"...

Back again with another 213 single, this one`s a lil` more interesting than the previous "Groupie Luv" single that I shared with y`all. True this is another "Groupie Luv" single, but this one includes some G-Funk remixes that were produced by the 'G-Child' Warren G. He actually did 2 G-Funk remixes on this single; the G-Funk Club Remix & then the G-Funk Grown Folks Remix, I`m DiGG`n the latter of the 2 personally. Don`t get me wrong the Club Remix isn`t bad I just feel that the beat would`ve been better suited for another song altogether, this is just my opinion though. Now the Grown Folks Remix is bangin`, it may be almost better than the original. I definitely think that someone should jack that Instrumental for a mixtape that`s for sure!!! 


On this single you get 7 tracks in total; the Album version, Album Instrumental, G-Funk Club Remix, G-Funk Club Remix Instrumental, G-Funk Grown Folks Remix, G-Funk Grown Folks Remix Instrumental & the Acappella. Something that`s kind of funny to note that I noticed with all 3 of the 213 singles that I`ve shared with y`all is that each one of them had a different spelling for acapella. So I decided that I`d get to the bottom of it since I have always wondered what the correct spelling of the word actually was, so according to this site here`s what they had to say about it;

"In referring to singing unaccompanied by instruments, the traditional spelling is the Italian one, a cappella: two words, two Ps, two Ls. The Latin spelling a capella is learned, but in the realm of musical terminology, we usually stick with Italian. The one-word spelling “acapella” is widely used by Americans, including by some performing groups, but this is generally regarded by musical experts as an error"...

So apparently I have been using the American variation all this time...LoL, but usually when it comes to tracklists I just copy it however it appears on the album, single or whatever. Anyway, now that I`ve just taken you to school go `head & take recess & listen to these tunes, enjoy...

213`s "GRouPie LuV [PRoMo CD SiNGLe]"...

Going to share with y`all another promo single from 213, this one`s a CD Single that also came out in 2004 thru TVT Records. It`s titled "Groupie Luv" & it was produced by DJ Pooh who sampled Herbie Hancock`s "Chameleon" for the beat. Overall it`s a funky entertaining joint, I mean c`mon who doesn`t like groupies?.....LoL, this is clearly not a super lyrical track, but if you`re lookin` to get the crowd up dancin` I`m sure this joint`ll help you out with that. You get 5 tracks on this single; the Radio version, Dirty version, Instrumental, Accapella & the Call Out Hook. Never truly understood why some singles include that Call Out Hook ish, but for whatever reason it`s on here too. 213 did a music video for this song, it`s got a somewhat corny but comical vibe to it. That`s all that I really have to say about this joint, check out the tunes & enjoy...

FoXy BRoWn`s "CoMe FLy WiTH Me [CD SiNGLe]"...

Here`s another Foxy Brown single that was released in 2005 by Roc-A-Fella Records for the much anticipated (but yet to be released) "Black Roses" album, yes another unreleased Foxy Brown album! For those that may not have known Foxy left Def Jam around 2004 or so because they had cancelled the release of her "Ill Na Na 2: The Fever" album (although promo copies did see a limited release). Pissed off about the whole thing she bounced from the label, but after reuniting with Jay-Z while performing some shows during his Best Of Both World Tours she linked up with him on a business tip. She was originally set to be the first artist signed to Jigga`s S. Carter Records imprint, but once Jay-Z became the new president & CEO of Def Jam all plans for his imprint were put on hold/ cancelled. So he then resigned Foxy to Def Jam again as one of the first artists on his new roster. I can only guess that`s where the whole Roc-A-Fella/ Def Jam relationship stems from for the first couple of "Black Roses" singles that were released in 2005 by the labels...


Unfortunately "Black Roses" was also never released which sucks like $2 hooker$ on pay~day because it apparently featured production from the likes of Dave Kelly, The Neptunes, Trackmasters, Timbaland as well as Kanye West. Foxy Brown also confirmed that she had guest appearances from Spragga Benz, Baby Cham, Rakim, KRS-One, Mos Def, Shyne, Barrington Levy, Luther Vandross, Dido, Big Daddy Kane, Jay-Z & even Roxanne Shante. Both lists are pretty impressing, so one can only imagine what the album was cookin` up to be. Sadly Foxy announced on December 8, 2005 that she was experiencing sudden & severe sensorineural hearing loss in both of her ears. She had kept it a secret from most for about 6 months, I`m guessing she was afraid to tell anyone. Although I think that would be a silly route to take considering that as a recording artist you kind of need the use of your ears, but hey only God knows what was going thru her mind at the time. Anyway during this time she obviously pushed the "Black Roses" album aside to focus more on regaining her hearing...

Thankfully she was fortunate enough to have her hearing restored thru surgery around June of 2006 & she had planned to resume recording & working on the "Black Roses" album which was hopeful for a release towards the end of 2006 (December) although her label didn`t set a date. Rumors then began to circulate in November of 2006 that Jigga wasn`t too impressed with the progress, or lack there of, on her album & he was planning to drop her from the label. Shortly after these rumors began the some~what 'planned' December 2006 release for "Black Roses" was cancelled altogether. Eventually Brown once again left Def Jam in August of 2007 & linked up with Black Hand Entertainment for a management deal, Chaz Williams then became her manager. The plan after leaving Def Jam for the second time was that she was going to launch an independent label called Black Roses Entertainment that was going to have distribution thru Koch Records. To tide her fans over until she could release her much anticipated "Black Roses" album she decided to release a street album titled "Brooklyn Don Diva" which dropped in 2008 shortly before she was released from prison (that whole manicurists assault thing). Sadly the street album didn`t do as well as she expected & things began to sour between her & Black Hand Entertainment. Eventually they both parted ways & as for the "Black Roses" album it still remains unreleased. All that I have seen materialize from it are a few singles & this one that I`m sharing with y`all is one of them...





So excuse the long winded explanation about the "Black Roses" album, but I wanted to school those that may not have known about it. As for the single I`m sharing with y`all it`s titled "Come Fly With Me" & it features Reggae artist Sizzla. You get 4 tracks on here; Radio, Instrumental, Call-Out Hook & the Dirty Roc-A-Pella. It`s a shame that they chose not to include the LP version of the song, but hey if you`ve got some DJ~type skills you can take the Instrumental & just mix in the Roc-A-Pella & you`ll have the album version for your listening pleasure. The track itself is decent, obviously you`re gon` need to enjoy some X~rated hood flavored raps with a Reggae vibe to `em, but overall the track`s not bad. So check it out for ya`self & enjoy...

FuNKMaSTeR FLeX`s "Wu-TaNG C.R.E.A.M. TeaM LiNe uP" [PRoMo CD SiNGLe]...

Today I`m dustin` off a promo CD single that was originally released back in 1998 (it`s actually a European release) on Loud Records by Funkmaster Flex. The songs featured on this single are off of Funkmaster Flex`s "The Mix Tape Vol. III (60 Minutes Of Funk): The Final Chapter". There`s 5 tracks in total, the Radio/Clean Version, the LP/Dirty Version, the Instrumental & finally the Acappella for "Wu-Tang C.R.E.A.M. Team Line Up", a song that features Raekwon, the Harlem Hoodz, Inspectah Deck, Method Man & Killa Sin. It`s a pretty nice track that`s produced by DJ Scratch. The last song on this single is kind of a weird addition, well to me anyway since it`s more of an R&B song. I`m not sure who decided to add it to the single after the hardcore joint.....LoL, but for whatever reason it closes things out. "Here We Go" features Khadejia & Product, some folks that were affiliated with Wyclef at the time that`s probably why he makes a lil` appearance at the beginning of the song. The song itself isn`t bad, so go `head & give this single a lil` listen...

What`s happening y`all? Hope all you mothers & mothers to be out there had a great & Happy Mother`s Day! I should have posted up that 2Pac "Dear Mama" single today instead of when I did, it would`ve made more sense....LoL, oh well what`s been done is done I guess. Anyway what I have for y`all is a promo CD single by the Fugees that was released back in 1996. This joint was actually featured on the Soundtrack for "When We Were Kings". A documentary about "The Rumble In The Jungle", the 1974 heavyweight championship bout between Muhammad Ali & George Foreman which took place in Zaire...

You see boxing promoter Don King was out to get a rep` in the boxing world, to do so he offered both fighters 5 G`s each for a match against each other. King found a backer for the whole thing in Zaire`s dictator Mobutu Sese Suko & that`s how the event became known as "The Rumble In The Jungle", which is also the title of the promo single by the Fugees that I`m sharing with y`all. The song features A Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes & John Forte as well. It`s actually the only Hip Hop track on the entire "When We Were Kings Soundtrack", so I guess that`s why there`s 3 versions of "Rumble In The Jungle" & then the rest of this promo single is quotes from Muhammad Ali which is kind of cool in it`s own right. So there ya have it a lil history behind the title of the song go on & check it out, it`s definitely worth a listen...

BiGGiE`s "PaRTy & BuLLSHiT" [PRoMo CD SiNGLe]...

Today I have a lil` somethin` from the late great Notorious B.I.G. a.k.a. Biggie Smalls for y`all to check out. I believe that this is his first single titled "Party & Bullshit" which was released back in 1993 thru Uptown Records, it was also featured on the soundtrack to the film "Who`s The Man?". It contains 5 tracks in total; 3 radio/ edited versions of the track & 2 dirty versions. The first track "Party & Bullshit [Radio]" is probably the better of the 3 radio edits, the reason being that Biggie switched up his lyrics, it`s done on all 3 edited versions but on this one the hook`s not annoyingly edited... 

I like the beat behind the "Party & Bullshit [Puffy`s Clean]" version, but the downside is that the hook`s annoyingly edited so it kind of takes away from the track, my opinion of course. The Lord Finesse Remix is definitely a DoPe track, however the clean/ edited version kind of sucks for the same reason that the Puffy`s Clean version blows....the hook`s annoyingly edited, I just don`t see why they didn`t do the same ish they did for the hook on the Radio Version, but that`s just me.....LoL, thankfully they included the dirty version of the Lord Finesse Remix as well as the Album Version so you can peep the rawness in the tracks the way they were intended to be heard, so go `head & check `em out for ya`self...

CaPoNe-N-NoReaGa`s "iLLeGaL LiFe b/w STiCK YoU" [CD SiNGLe]...

Here`s another single from Capone-N-Noreaga released in 1996 thru Penalty Recordings. This 6 track single includes 4 songs & 2 instrumentals. While 3 of the 4 songs are from C-N-N`s debut album "War Report", you also get the Iraq Mix of "L.A, L.A." which isn`t featured on the album. In my opinion the song`s not really as good as the version that appears on the album for 2 reasons. The first being that the beat`s not as iLL, while the second`s just the fact that it`s shorter in length & it`s annoyingly edited. Sure the Kuweit Mix (I know it`s spelled incorrectly but that`s how it appears on the CD) is edited as well, but it`s done in a better way with some cool sound effects :)  I never did find out why "L.A, L.A." is edited, so if anyone knows the reasoning behind the decision please feel free to school me. Now for those folks that were under a rock during the whole East/ West Coast beef that was takin` place in the late 1990's "L.A, L.A." was a retaliation joint to the Dogg Pound`s "New York, New York" track which is why the original version of "L.A., L.A." has a beat that`s real similar to the Dogg Pound`s track, check the songs below to hear what I mean...

2PaC`s "DeaR MaMa" [CD SiNGLe]...

What`s happenin` y`all? Hope all is well! Today I`m dustin` off a CD Single from the late great 2Pac for y`all. This one was released in 1995 thru Interscope Records & it features 6 tracks in total; 4 songs & 2 instrumentals. Most of the joints on here are from his 1995 album "Me Against The World", but there`s also the hardly heard Moe Z. Mix of "Dear Mama" as well as a joint off the Thug Life album titled "Bury Me A G". I`m not really a big fan of the Moe Z. Mix, it`s not a bad track I just feel that the original beat helped capture the emotion behind `Pac's lyrics a lot better than the one Moe Z. provided. Two of my favorite 2Pac songs are on this single, those being the heart~felt "Dear Mama" & the Hip Hop ode "Old School". It`s definitely awesome to hear `Pac spitting about his love for both his mother & also Hip Hop, the later was a topic that he didn`t really speak on very much in his short career so it`s most definitely a treat to hear him BiGG`n up Hip Hop`s place of birth New York. Go on & check out these tunes, they`re definitely worth the time spent so enjoy...

LaDy Of RaGe`s "AFRo PuFFs" [PRoMo CD SiNGLe]...

Today I have some good ol` tunes from The Lady Of Rage to share with y`all from 1994 when she was signed to the powerhouse label Death Row Records. "Afro Puffs" was the first song that I had heard from Rage back in the day on a college radio Hip Hop show. I had no clue on who she was, but I knew one thing....home~girl had lyrics & she could definitely rip the mic. A few weeks after hearing the song for the first time I caught the music video on Much Music`s Rap City, so I was finally able to put a face to her voice & she did rock some 'Afro Puffs'....LoL, she didn`t provide much in the eye candy department like say Foxy Brown or Lil` Kim, who were gettin` their props around the same time frame for being more sexual than being actual emcees. However she did bring ear candy to the table, with her rough & rugged rhymes over some very DoPe production by Dr. Dre (my opinion of course) while Snoop Dogg did his thing on the hook...

The track itself ended up being featured on the soundtrack for "Above The Rim", a film that also starred fellow Death Row Records artist 2Pac. It generated a nice healthy buzz for Rage, but for whatever reason Tha Row decided to sleep on her instead of capitalizing off that buzz. The label did eventually release her debut album titled "Necessary Roughness" in 1997, but by then only her die~hard fans were really checkin` for her so it didn`t sell all that many units. Another weird thing is that they didn`t even include "Afro Puffs" at all on her album, a move that I think was kind of retarded but hey the label was pretty much falling apart by then anyway...

The promo CD single that I`m sharing with y`all includes 5 tracks in total. You get the Radio Version, an 8 minute Extended Remix that features an intro by Dr. Dre & then it`s followed up by a lil` freestyle by Snoop Dogg before Rage finally comes in to rock for the rest of the track. The G-Funk Remix features a lil` intro type of thing where you hear Rage talkin` with someone who`s encouraging her to have some Hennessy, but she ain`t have none of that! She goes on saying that she`s got skills & doesn`t need to DiSS anyone, I wonder just who they were trying to get her to DiSS?....LoL, the LP Version & then the Instrumental close out the single. So there ya have it folks, this single is definitely worth checkin` out so go on & do so...

CaPoNe-N-NoReaGa`s "T.O.N.Y." [PRoMo CD SiNGLe]...

Today I`m gon` share with y`all the promo CD single for Capone-N-Noreaga`s "T.O.N.Y. (Top Of New York)". This is actually the very first track that I heard from the duo, it`s also my favorite joint from them. It dropped back in 1997 & was released by Penalty Recordings. Carlos Broady & Nashiem Myrick produced the beat while Tragedy Khadafi has a guest appearance. For those that don`t know this joint`s from Capone-N-Noreaga`s CLaSSiC debut album titled "The War Report". Takin` it back to the late `90's with this post, 1997 to be exact.....LoL, hittin` y`all off with some Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz. This joint is only a CD single, but the 2 songs that are on here are DoPe! Now obviously "Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)" is the joint that most folks know these kats for, but it`s actually the second song "Marmalade" that`s the real banger. The beat knocks hard, not too sure why they excluded from "Make It Reign" -- their only album released back in 1998.
