Cypress Hill`S "Ice Cube Killa [HeRBaN DeLuXe VeRSioN 12 Inch]"...

What`s good? What`s happenin`?? What`s lovely y`all??? Today I`m dustin` off another 12 inch single for y`all to enjoy. This one is from Cypress Hill & was released as a white label back in 1996 in the midst of the beef that Cypress Hill & Ice Cube had with each other. This is actually the second time that Cypress Hill went at Ice Cube, the first was on the song "No Rest For The Wicked" off of their "Temples Of Boom" album released in 1995.

I was going to go into the reason behind the beef, but I found this B-Real interview where he breaks it all down so why would I waste my time when you can get it from the horse`s mouth??? 😁

So anywways when I came across this White Label 12 inch, I knew it was missin` some Instrumentals & Acappellas/Vocals so that`s where this HeRBaN DeLuXe VeRSioN comes into play. So I stripped the Vocals & Instrumentals using the usual AI, these are not legitimate so don't get  it twisted. Oh yeah for those that didn`t figure it out the beat that Cypress Hill jacked for this tune it`s the Westside Connection`s "King Of The Hill" a tune that had Cube & Mack 10 dissin` Cypress Hill...

SauKRaTeS` "ACTioN [HeRBaN DeLuXe VeRSioN 12 iNCH]"...

What`s good? What`s happenin`?? What`s lovely y`all??? Hopefully you`re in good health & takin` good take of y`all selves! I think I`m comin` down with a lil` Cold or something courtesy of my son & his DaMn school. 😠You know how it goes tho if you`re a parent, school`s just one BiG fuckin` germ factory unfortunately! It`s crazy `cuz he`s only been there for like a week. 😂 Anyway, I`ve been going thru a few of my HDD`s & decided to dust off a good ol` Canadian Hip Hop gem of a 12 inch from one of Canada`s Hip Hop forefathers Saukrates. If you`re not familiar with this kat`s music that`s alright, I`ll be sharing some more of his stuff in the next couple of posts. So eventually I`ll be doing a deep~dive on his contributions to this music we all love...

The original 12 inch single was released back in 1999 thru Capital Hill Music Inc. & got plenty of play when it was first released on the college Hip Hop radio shows. At least in my hometown Ottawa, Ontario -- I`m certain it was the same across Canada anyway. Sadly these joints off the 12 inch never made their way onto an actual album, which is a complete missed opportunity in my opinion. Anyway, like I said I had to dust these tunes off because they deserve to be heard by y`all Hip Hop heads. While I was listening to this 12 inch the DJ in me got to wondering why there`s no vocals/accapella tracks on this single. So I decided to put my HeRBaN DeLuXe VeRSioN touches on this joint. The only thing that I figured was missing was the previously mentioned accapellas, so I used some AI ish & stripped the vocals from the tracks for y`all DJ`s out there that may want to do some remixes, blends or what have you. Obviously the accapellas aren`t legit studio joints, but they`re not too far off...

Now out of the 2 tracks on here, yeah-yeah you get the edited & instrumental joints as well, but out of the 2 joints on this single I really prefer the remix. I just feel that the lyrics & beat bang harder than the original. Both tunes are solid tho, don`t get it twisted yo! The original single only had 6 tracks so clearly the remaining joints are the ones that I`ve added as a bonus, enjoy...

SPiCe-1`s "DuMPiN` `Em iN DiTCHeS" [12 iNCH]...

What`s good? What`s lovely?? What`s happenin` y`all??? I hope Life`s been treatin` you well! Today I`m going to be dustin` off a good ol` 12 inch single from the East Bay Gangsta himself, Spice 1. This joint was released thru Jive Records back in 1993 to help promote his second album titled "187 He Wrote". So on this "Dumpin` `Em In Ditches" single you get a total of 5 tracks. The first 4 joints are produced by CMT & E-A-Ski, while the last song on this single "Smok`Em Like A Blunt" was done by Too $hort while Ant Banks mixed it down...

The first track on this 12 inch is the Street/Album Version of "Dumpin` `Em In Ditches", a great song in my opinion. CMT & E-A-Ski supplied Spice with a great backdrop for him to flex that hard gangsta ish that he`s well known for spittin`, they even somehow managed to make the sleigh bells work. The second joint on this single is the Extended Version & it shares the same beat as the Street/Album Version. What`s DoPe about it however is that it`s more of a Clean/Radio Version of the song, but Spice 1 actually took some extra time to redo the lyrics without any cussin` or lame censored edits. He definitely gets some extra props from me for spendin` that time on the song because I really hate when the artists get lazy & choose to leave the song as~is & just have it lamely censored. Then again it may not be the artists themselves that make that choice, the record labels are more than likely behind it. Either way tho, I dig it! I mean if you can still give a song that hard gangsta edge without having any cussin` on it, you`re definitely a talented emcee...

The third song on here is the Video Version which is essentially the same as the previous track without the extended instrumentation. Following that is the Instrumental, for those wondering it has the clean hook on it instead of the album`s dirty version. The final joint on this 12 inch single is the Too $hort produced "Smok`Em Like A Blunt". Honestly it`s far from some mind blowin` lyrical masterpiece, but I do dig the Reggae vibe that it has. It`s the same version that appears on the "187 He Wrote" album if you were wondering. So there ya have it, enjoy the tunes...

CRU`s "Lisa Lipps b/w Wreckgonize" [Promo 12 Inch]...

Yeah I`ve dusted off a few CRU joints since I`ve found that 'lost' harddrive, I may as well share this one while I`m at it! Now keep in mind most of the files on said HDD are 25 or so years old, this one`s only in 192 sound quality wise unfortunately, but hey it is what is simply is. Not 3D-HD enough for ya? Carry on my friend.......LoL, I`m just happy to be able to access these files after all these years! Anyway as with most CRU tracks Yogi handles the production on both songs featured on this promo 12 inch single released back in 1997 by Rush Associated Labels. "Lisa Lipps" is the more upbeat of the 2 joints on this 12 inch album promo. I know that there were a few kats that laughed seeing Lisa Lipps & 12 inch promo in the same sentence, `80's & `90's babies stand up.......LoL

In all honesty & I`m only guessing here, this "Lisa Lipps" joint sounds as tho it all came together after a good solid Rhythm Blunt session -- at least to my ears anyway. It just sounds as tho The Mighty Ha is straight free~flowin` off the top of the dome after vibin` to the beat while on that extremely nice previously mentioned Rhythm Blunt session. "Wreckgonize" is definitely the darker of the 2 tracks on this 12 inch & features an opening verse from the late & underappreciated Harlem emcee Black Rob. The song`s production is solid & definitely captures the vibe of the lyrics, all 3 verses are great! However the hook to me is kind of lazy yet surprisingly still sort of works with everything else. Remember kids, "Carlos The Basehead is lurkin`..." word to Yogi`s second verse! You get the Dirty, Clean & Instrumental versions of each song on this promo so go `head, check it out & enjoy...

CRU`s "BuBBLiN`" [12 iNCH]...

Got another CLaSSiC 12 inch single to share with y`all from CRU, released in 1997 on Violator Records. Both songs on this single are from CRU`s debut album "Da Dirty 30", highly recommend that ya give it a listen! So you`re not gettin` anything exclusive to this 12 inch release unfortunately. With a total of 5 tracks you`re gettin`; "Bubblin`" Radio, LP & Instr. versions & also The Lox collabo` "Live At The Tunnel" Radio & LP Versions. It would`ve been much better if they included the video version of "Bubblin`" instead of this Radio version because the video`s got alternate lyrics instead of just the lazy edits, but whatever. Yogi handles the production on both tracks, The Lox do their thang on "Live At The Tunnel", but I`m still DiGG`n "Bubblin`" after all these years. Excuse some of the pops & clicks, not the best quality rip but it is the only one that I have. Either way check it out & enjoy...

FuNKMaSTeR FLeX & The GHeTTo CeLeBs` "NuTTiN` BuT FLaVoR" [12 iNCH]...

What`s lovely my peoples? Hope Life`s treating ya fairly! Today we`re gon` take it back to 1995 & dust off a 12 inch single released thru Wreck Records by New York`s infamous DJ Funkmaster Flex & The Ghetto Celebs called "Nuttin` But Flavor". I`m not truly sure exactly who the 'Ghetto Celebs' are, but I`m just guessin` that it probably just consisted of whoever was featured on a Funkmaster record at the time of release. For any Hip Hop head this right here is a gem of a single for many reasons, but I`ll just state 2 of `em right now `cuz that`s all that`s needed! First off; you get to hear some early work from 3 great emcees who are no longer here BLeSS`n us with music right now; Ol` Dirty Bastard, Biggie & Craig Mack! So GoD BLeSS the dead, R.I.P.!!! You get to hear why Hip Hop truly loves Ol` Dirty`s standout style on "Nuttin` But Flavor". In my humble opinion he outshines both Charlie Brown & Biz Markie on the track, no DiSReSPeCT....but that`s just how I hear it! Secondly; the B-Side of this single features some live from the Palladium freestyles from none other than the late & great Biggie & Craig Mack which were recorded on August 5th, 1994 (Funkmaster`s birthday apparently). What`s interesting about the Craig Mack freestyle is that it also features Biggie kickin` some raps right along with him, which is kind of rare because there`s not very much recorded material of them working together. The Biggie 'freestyle' includes some rhymes that would later end up on "Unbelievable". So there ya have it y`all, enjoy...

213`s "ANoTHeR SuMMeR [PRoMo 12 iNCH]"...

My apologies to the visitors of this blog, I realize that it`s been almost 2 months since I`ve posted any music I just needed to take a lil` break. Hopefully I can start posting up somethings before I head up to Canada for a few days to visit my parents, brothers & friends. I`m kind of excited to take the trip it`s been almost a year since my last visit & this time around I`m going with my wife & son. Anyway I`m going to kick things back into motion with a TVT Records released Promo 12 Inch single that was originally released in 2004 by the West Coast super trio 213. Now if you are not familiar with who 213 is you should have your West Coast pass revoked.....LoL, I`m jokin` y`all. 213 is a trio of West Coast rappers consisting of Snoop Dogg, 'Mr. Regulate' Warren G & the late great Nate Dogg who all rep` Long Beach, California. The group`s name 213 stood for the area code of Long Beach at the time they formed (the area code has since been switched to 526). That`s all I`m really going to say about `em for now, I don`t want to get into great detail because I want to save that story for when I share with y`all their one & only album...

With that being said, the title of this single is "Another Summer" which is quite fitting seeing as how this Summer is pretty much winding down & honestly I can`t say that I`m sad about that....LoL, now being a Canadian I never thought I`d be so glad to be done with Summer, but ever since I moved down to Charlotte, North Carolina it`s another story altogether. So far I`ve been here for 2 Summers & they`ve been hella hot! The first one wasn`t quite as bad because it rained a whole lot, like 3 out of every 7 days that went by it rained. This Summer however it`s been CRaZy hot!!! Severe drought like weather, not as bad as what Cali`s been dealing with though thank God, but still very much hot with a lot less rain. I mean when you`re standing in the shade & it still feels as though you`re melting like ice cream it`s just simply too hot for comfort & definitely not enjoyable at all. Who knows though, maybe I just haven`t adapted to the climate yet...

Anyway, this promo single contains 3 tracks in total; the Clean/Radio version, the Instrumental & the Acapella. The song`s produced by none other than Kanye West who samples Eddie Kendricks` "Intimate Friends" for the beat. Latoiya Williams is also featured on the track & delivers some sweet soundin` vocals. It`s a decent song, not super spectacular but also far from wack. I can definitely see it getting some play at a few family BBQ`s since it has that nice laid back Summer time vibe to it. What`s also great about this single is that you get the Acapella which gives you another way to enjoy Nate Dogg`s vocals. Without the beat you truly get to hear just how talented of a singer he was, I`m sure it`s that way for just about any of his Acapellas though. So there ya have it, check out the music & enjoy...

FoXy BRoWn`s "Oh YeaH b/w B.K. AnTHeM [12 iNCH SiNGLe]"...

What`s happenin` y`all? Hope all is well in your Life. Today I figured that I`d post up a single since it`s been a while since I have shared any with y`all. So without any delay, let`s get to it shall we? This single is from one my favorite female emcees Foxy Brown, it was released back in 2001 by Def Jam. This single contains 2 songs; "Oh Yeah" & "B.K. Anthem" both joints from her 2001 released album titled "Broken Silence" (also one of my favorite Fox Boogie albums). There`s 6 tracks in total on this 12 inch single, each song includes the LP, Radio & Instrumental versions. Out of the 2 songs my favorite on here has got to be the Eddie Scoresazy produced "Oh Yeah" with the backing vocals of Spragga Benz. Don`t get me wrong the Robert "Shim" Kirkland produced "B.K. Anthem" isn`t too shabby either, but man you simply just can`t really compare it to "Oh Yeah". The war~like chant & the Reggae infused beat make for a great listen. While Foxy spits some pretty decent bars only to compliment the beat even more...

I`m not sure why they censor out Diddy`s name in that one line; "Niggas say I`m too pretty to spit rhymes this gritty. Fuck y`all thought? Be dancin` around in suits like I`m (**Diddy**)"...I could be trippin` but I think the advance copy of "Broken Silence" doesn`t have it edited out (I`ll have to DiG it out of my collection to find out). I don`t see what the deal is anyway, it`s not like it`s a huge DiSS & besides everyone knows who`s implied in the line so why bother to censor it out? Other lines that I dig in that song are; "Bitches smile up in your face, turn around & pop shit. You a industry bitch, I`m a in~the~streets bitch"... as well as this one; "Listen, never trippin`, never catch Brown slippin`. Fuck, y`all only nice around mics like Pippen"...Alright now let`s move on to "B.K. Anthem" which isn`t a bad tune either, it was definitely made with them mixtapes in mind. Fox shows some love to her home turf of Brooklyn, the only thing that I don`t really like much is that she tries a lil` too hard with all the guns & drug references on this one, it`s just a lil` overbearing, but she still manages to keep it somewhat interesting...

So in a nut~shell this is a pretty solid single overall, definitely worth checking out. Like I mentioned before these songs are off of "Broken Silence" which in my opinion is one of Foxy`s best albums (if not the best). If you are a fan of Foxy Brown & haven`t heard this it`s definitely worth the listening time spent. Something to note, the cover art that I`ve included & added in with this post isn`t the original cover for this release. I couldn`t find a decent quality pic so I just used the cover art from the UK 12 inch release instead. Besides this picture of Foxy is waaaaaay better than the boring & plain text cover that was used as the original on this release. So there ya have it, check it out & enjoy...

2 LiVe CReW`s "Me So HoRNy [12 iNCH]"...

I know that it has been a while since I made a post up on this blog & to those that do visit I apologize, I have just been a lil` on the busy side with Life & all, but don`t worry I haven`t given up on this blog! I took a trip up to my hometown in Canada a few weeks ago (had to show off my son to my parents since they hadn`t met him yet) & was able to grab a few CD`s & records that were being stored at my parents` place so y`all will be seeing some more posts in the next few weeks. Wish I could`ve grabbed everything, but the rental didn`t have very much trunk space left over after all my family`s gear was in there.....LoL, Anyway to start things off I figured that I would dust off one of 2 Live Crew`s most popular 12 inch singles titled "Me So Horny"...

Now for those that have been livin` under a rock & don`t know about 2 Live Crew I`ll just take 2 seconds to laugh at ya, then I`ll give you a lil` background info` on them so I don`t seem like such an arrogant prick.....LoL, but seriously you should really know about `em! They are mostly known for their sexually charged lyrics & at one point in time their early albums were deemed illegal to sell. Record store clerks were getting into some serious trouble legally just for selling them. They rep` Miami, Florida & the single that I`m sharing with y`all is from their most popular album titled "As Nasty As They Wanna Be" released in 1989. Well, that`s all that I really feel like getting into about `em for now.....LoL, I`m feeling a lil` lazy so I`ll save the more detailed info` for a future 2 Live Crew post...

Let`s get to the single now shall we? The 12 inch single that I`m sharing with y`all was released in 1990 thru BITE Records, a Dutch label that was around in the early 1990's that mostly focused on Dance music. You get 4 tracks in total on this joint; the clean & nasty versions of "Me So Horny", the nasty version of "Get The Fuck Out Of My House" & then the single closes out with the `89 House Mix of "We Want Some Pussy". The last track is really the only song on here that I`m not much of a fan of, aside from that though you get some classic 2 Live Crew joints! So there ya have it, go `head & check it out...

Finally got around to Re~uPP`n this bootleg 12 inch by Slick Rick titled "The Ruler`s Remixes", so for those of you that were asking me to repost it this one`s for you! This joint was released in 2002 by Archives Inc. & it features 7 tracks in total (there`s 4 songs & 3 Instrumentals). This is definitely one for those that DiG the instrumentals. The only downside that I find with this 12 inch is the fact that "Get Bizzy" featuring Greyson & Jaysun (Greysun is misspelled on the record`s sticker label) is the edited version. Aside from that though it`s a pretty DoPe lil` bootleg, so go `head & give it a listen...

CaSSiDy`s "I`m A HuSTLa [PRoMo 12 iNCH]"...

I hope y`all had a great Thanksgiving with your families! I sure did; ate good & spent quality time with some loved ones. Anyways I have another 12 inch to share with y`all, this one is by Philly emcee Cassidy. Now I`m gon` be all the way honest & state that I haven`t really listened to much of his music, but this song was getting plenty of play when it first dropped. So I am a lil` familiar with this tune, actually it reminds me of my cousin Dawson`s son because every time the song came on he`d start to sing the hook which is a Jay-Z sample from "Dirt Off Your Shoulders", what a memory! This 12 inch single was released by J Records back in 2005 & is produced by Swizz Beatz. You get 4 tracks in total on this promo single; the Clean or Radio Version, the Dirty or LP Version, the Instrumental (with adlibs unfortunately) & last but not least the Acappella which thankfully is not censored. I always hate when they choose to use the censored version of the track for the acappella to me it`s just stupid. So there y`all have it, go on & give it a listen...

AZ`s "HeY AZ [PRoMo 12 iNCH]"...

It`s been a while since I posted up a 12 inch single so I figured I`d hit y`all with something from AZ seeing as how I posted up that "L.O.D.B" Mixtape back in October. Gotta BiG uP the homie Dirt Dog for hookin` me up with this lil` promo 12 inch, much appreciated dogg!!!

Now let`s get to the music shall we? First off this is the "Hey AZ" Promo 12 Inch that was released back in 1997. It was actually set to be the lead single off AZ`s second album "Pieces Of A Man" which dropped in 1998, but for whatever reason once the album was released this track wasn`t even featured on it at all. I`m not sure why exactly, maybe the label was disappointed in the initial response that the single received. Only the label & AZ himself know for sure....oh & well maybe Tone & Poke a.k.a. the Trackmasters, after all they did produce the single...

Some of y`all may recognize the beat that the Trackmasters used for this joint, that`s because they sampled the World`s Famous Supreme Team`s "Hey DJ". R&B fans may also recognize the tune as well seeing as how Mariah Carey`s joint "Honey" used it as well. While I`m talkin` about R&B, the female trio Sisters With Voices a.k.a. SWV are featured on "Hey AZ" -- they`re signing the hook wonderfully. You get 5 tracks on this 12 inch & obviously I`m DiGG`n the Dirty Version the most out of the 3 versions of this track...

The only difference that I could hear between the Clean Version & the Alternative Clean Version was that the Alternative was a lil` bit longer of a track, aside from that they sounded pretty much the same to me. The one thing that I have to complain about on this 12 Inch is that the Acapella is the edited version! I`ve always hated when they choose to give you the censored Acapella because to me that just isn`t the true version of the track, but this is only my opinion of course. Anyway go `head & peep the single out for ya`self...

AL TaRiQ`s "THiNK NoT" [12 iNCH]...

Got a nice lil` 12 inch single by Al Tariq, some of y`all may know him as Fashion from his days as a member of The Beatnuts. He left the group shortly after they released their first album because he was lookin` to pursue a solo career. So in 1996 he dropped his solo debut album titled "God Connections" thru Correct Records. The 12 inch that I`m sharing with y`all was released a year later, but both songs on the single are from his debut album. I believe that his former group The Beatnuts handled the production for these 2 songs, they even make a guest appearance on "Peace Akki". Both songs on this single are bangin`, but my favorite joint is "Think Not"....ya gotta love the beat on that track! The only thing that I`m not feelin` about this 12 inch is how they handle the radio versions of both songs, by simply but annoyingly editing them so the end result is 2 joints that you can`t really enjoy as a listener. In my ears it would just make more sense to rewrite the lyrics so there`s no cussin`, but that`s just my opinion of course....LoL, the dirty versions are the real gems on here so go `head & check `em out for ya`self...

BRaSS TaCKs` "iCe BReaKeR CLaSSiC b/w HiDDeN iNSiGHT" [12 iNCH]...

A few days ago I was over at my homie 16 SPLiFFs` crib, goin` thru his record collection just searching for some treasures. That`s when I came across this one joint that I hadn`t seen or heard before. It`s by Brass Tacks, but the only thing that was a lil` familiar to me was the producers Wall & Steel from Down To Erf, so instantly I asked my friend to put it on then proceeded to ask more questions about the 12 inch itself. He told me what he knew about it & was even nice enough to rip it for me. So today my friends I`m goin` to share with y`all this very mysterious record. So the single is from Brass Tacks, as previously mentioned, & it was released all the way back in 1996 on Starpoint Music. This is indie Canadian Hip Hop at it`s rawest, the only downside about it is that it`s a pretty rare record. The record collectin` nerds go quite nuts over this one on the interweb now so if you do happen to come across a copy of this 12 inch do a lil` research before ya go & sell ya`self wife & home to cop it `cuz chances are it could be one of the bootleg joints that some folks pressed up in Japan around 2009. Anyways, Brass Tacks rep` Toronto & from what I can tell they had a short run releasing an EP & a couple of 12 inch singles in 1997 & that`s about it. I`m still actually a lil` surprised that I hadn`t heard of `em before, but I`m definitely glad that I stumbled across this 12 inch. What ya get is some nice Jazz~dusty beats meshed with street influenced lyrics. So go `head & check it out, you`ll be glad ya did...
