R.i.P. DJ K-SWiFT...

I`ve got to pay my ReSPeCTs to Baltimore`s DJ K-Swift a.k.a. The Club Queen a.k.a. Khia Edgerton. She passed away tragically this Monday (July 21) in a swimming pool accident that took place at her home in Baltimore, Maryland (read more here). The 92Q Jams mixshow pioneer began DJ`n at the age of 11. After 14 years of perfecting her skillZ on the wheels of steel, she became not only Baltimore`s sole female DJ, but also the only female Mix Show Coordinator in the country. She`s a member of the hottest DJ squad in the USA known as the Violator All Star DJ`s & she`s also a part of the all female crew Murda Mamis...

Khia Edgerton`s LiFe will be celebrated this Friday & Saturday (July 25 and 26) with 2 separate services at 2 different locations.First...The New Shiloh Baptist Church will host the memorial services on Friday, starting with a viewing from 10am-6pm. After the viewing there will be a special wake, with tributes from the Edgerton Family & K-Swift`s extended family from Radio One`s 92Q Jams. Second....on Saturday, following a wake at 10am, friends & family will gather at the Murphy Fine Arts Center at Morgan State University to pay their final respects, with funeral services starting at 11 am. K-Swift will be buried at Loudon Park Cemetery at 3620 Wilkens Avenue (send flowers to Morgan State University – Murphy Fine Arts Center; 2201 Argonne Drive; Baltimore, MD 21251)...

Apparently K-Swift & I share the same birthdays, so I guess it`ll be a lil` hard to forget her. Regardless, she will be missed! My BLeSSiNGs & condolences go out to her entire family...

I`ve always been an HuGe fan of Ricky Walters a.k.a. Slick Rick ever since I heard "Children`s Story" back in `89. Even as a young buck I thought he had some DoPe storytelling abilities, and that`s something that I think helps make an emcee more entertaining, gives `em more replay value. Just peep tracks like the previously mentioned "Children`s Story", "Indian Girl", "Behind Bars" or even "Adults Only" -- very entertaining....LoL, anyways I was bored a few days ago & decided that I`d put together a lil` mix of some rare & unreleased Slick Rick joints as well as a few of my fav` Ricky D tracks. So here`s what I came up with, nothing special but definitely worth a listen if you`re a BiG Slick rick fan. I really miss Biggie, his vibe`s just somethin` that`s been missin` from HiP HoP now~a~days & all the mixtape remixes with old Biggie verses just can`t seem to fill that void. Anyway, I found this joint while DiGG`n thru some CD`s one of my homies gave me the other day. It features some rare Biggie demo tracks, down side is that it has DJ Mike Nice shoutin` all thru `em. MaNaJ`s WeB MoVie "DaDDy`S SHaDoW"...

Just got back from a weekend at my cottage, took my newly purchased used ride (a `99 GMC Safari Van) for a good long road trip. Wanted to make sure she RoLLs nice & smooth & she does! Had a great time at the cottage too, which was nice because I really needed to unwind after a hectic week. Did so with a lot of that R&B (that`s Reefer & Beer for y`all squareS....LoL), some `SHRooMZ, some fireworkS, some swimming & a whole lot of BBQ`n...

Anyway, when I got back I had an email from my homie G~NuT tellin` me about this web movie documentary titled "Daddy`s Shadow". What`s interesting is that this feature~length documentary centers on my female emcee Manaj`s quest to break into the Music Industry despite her father`s objections & lack of support. Now the reason that it`s interesting, at least to myself anyway, is that Manaj`s father is none other that the legendary Dr. Dre. I wonder why he doesn`t want her in the Rap game? I mean his son Hood Surgeon is already following in his footsteps so I don`t see what the problem is. You can peep the flick online for $5.99 here...

I haven`t seen it yet myself, but I have seen the lil` trailer that`s available. Gotta say that I`m DiGG`n the tune that plays thru the trailer, definitely lookin` forward to hearing a lil` more from Manaj. Check out the trailer ya`self...
