BiG PuN`s "PRe-TRiaL MoTioN" [PRoMo TaPe]...

Gotta say that I miss Big Pun, dude`s humor was definitely refreshing for HiP HoP! With that said, I was going thru my HiP HoP collection last night searching for something to share with y`all & came across this cassette that I hadn`t listened to since I first got it from DJ LiNT`d PoCKeTs back in 1998. This joint right here is a lil` promo tape that Loud Records put together just before Pun`s first album "Capital Punishment" was released to help generate a buzz...

It features a few cuts from that album as well as a few collabo`s that Pun did along with a couple B-Side singles. Another cool thing about this tape is that the track "I`m Not A Player" is slightly different that the album version, so that alone is worth checkin` it. Originally while I was editing the files I was going to filter out the cassette~hiss, but when I tried it just sounded like Big Pun had eaten some Yoplait Tubes....LoL, so I decided to just leave them alone. The only thing that I did was adjust the volume & separate the tracks for easier listening -- so go `head & give this a listen...

LL CooL J`s "DouBLe L CooLs DowN"...

Got somewhat of a rarity for y`all today! What I have for y`all is an LL Cool J album that was released in 1996, what`s interesting is that it wasn`t released on Def Jam Records like the rest of his albums. It was actually released thru On Top Records, honestly I`m not at all familiar with the label. Attempted to do a lil` research on it, but the only thing that I could find that they released was this album here. Another interesting fact is that LL doesn`t go by Cool J on this album, it`s just labeled "Double L Cools Down"...

Not too sure what the deal is, maybe LL was upset with Def Jam at the time & needed to release some steam so he put out this project on the low, who knows? If somebody has a bit more info` on this album, by all means share it with me! Another theory that I have is that maybe these tracks are left over joints that didn`t make the cut for the 1995 "Mr. Smith" album. Something else to note, the track "Candyman" was also included on the 1994 Soundtrack for the "Jason`s Lyric" movie. The soundtrack version is a bit different than the version that`s included on the "Double L Cools Down" album, it`s a lot more polished sounding -- LL`s lyrics are the same though...

Anyway the source files that I had weren`t the best quality, so I adjusted the volume on a few of the tracks. I also tried to get rid of all the pops & clicks, but wasn`t really able to do so without the files sounding all jacked up so I just left that aspect alone. If ya have any issues with the sound let me know. Go `head & check out the tunes...

9. 2 Minute Warning To Shake That Ass [Interlude]

KRS-One`s "BaCK To The L.A.B." (LyRiCaL Ass BeaTiNG) EP...

Not really too sure what the story is behind this lil` EP from KRS-One. My homie DiRTy KooL AiD got this as a CD-R from a KRS-One concert, at least that`s the story he told me....LoL, in all honesty it`s far from KRS-One`s best work. I`m guessin` it`s just a lil` somethin` he dropped as promo before "Meta-Historical" the collabo` album with True Master. It`s just under 20 minutes, that`s why my guess is that it`s strictly for promo. Either way give it a listen if you`re curious...

KRS-One & DJ PReMieR`s "CRiMiNaL MiNDeD `08" [PRoMo 12 iNCH]...

This here is an unofficial/ bootleg promo 12 inch that was released in 2008. The Vodka company Smirnoff did a lil` promo type thing with a Hip Hop theme, it was called the Smirnoff Signature Mix Series (they even had a website for it, it`s no longer up now though). They took 3 great Hip Hop tracks & gave `em a 2008 vibe because each track represented a drink that they were promoting. KRS-One teamed up with DJ Premier for "Criminal Minded `08", their drink was called "The Cypha" (Smirnoff Raspberry Flavored Vodka & Pineapple Juice)...

Common teamed up with Just Blaze for "The Light `08", their drink was called "The Southside" (Smirnoff Green Apple Flavored Vodka & Cranberry Juice). While Q-Tip teamed up with producers Cool & Dre for "Midnight `08" & their drink was called "The Blueberry Abstract" (Smirnoff Blueberry Vodka & Lemonade). All 3 tracks were released together (along with their Instrumentals) on a promo 12 inch by Smirnoff in 2008, the downside was that they were all the Clean/Radio Edit versions...

Unfortunately this bootleg 12 inch only has the KRS-One & DJ Premier collabo` "Criminal Minded `08", however the plus side is that you get the Dirty version along with the Clean & Instrumental. The only issue that I have with this 12 inch is that the label states the Dirty version has the Intro like the Clean version does, but that`s actually not the case. The Clean version is the only track that has it....LoL, not a BiG deal though. Anyway I`m done rambling go `head & peep the tunes for ya`self & check out the music video while you`re at it (it`s actually the Dirty version with the Intro....LoL)...

BooGie DoWn PRoDuCTioN`s "My PHiLoSoPHy" [12 iNCH PRoMo]...

Continuing on the BDP tip, this promo single was released in 1988. "My Philosophy" is from the Boogie Down Production album "By All Means Necessary" also released in 1988. On this 12 inch you get 3 different versions of "My Philosophy"; the Album Mix, an Extended Remix & then the Single Edit -- you also get the Instrumental. In all honesty there isn`t much difference between the 3 versions, a few slight variations & that`s about it...

The Extended Remix is obviously a lil` longer than the Album Mix while the Single Edit has KRS spittin` acapella towards the end of the track because the beat fades out before he`s finished spittin`. Regardless the track is straight CLaSSiC so just take your pick between the 3 versions. What`s DoPe about the lyrics that KRS-One spits is that even though ish was done way back in 1988 they`re still relevant today. Just check these couple of lines...

"Rap is like a setup, a lot of games, a lot of suckas with colorful names
The way some act in Rap is kinda wack & it lacks creativity & intelligence
But they don`t care because they company`s selling it..."

Definitely a 12 inch for the real fans of Hip Hop, check out the video for some good ol` retro ish...

BooGie DoWn PRoDuCTioN`s "13 & GooD" [12 iNCH]...

Here`s another 12 inch from BDP, it was released in 1992 the same year as their CLaSSiC "Sex & Violence" album -- so naturally ya get some cuts from the LP. In this case you get "13 & Good" which was produced by Pal Joey & then you`re blessed with the Kenny Parker produced "Build & Destroy". "13 & Good" is a lil` cautionary tale for the fellas about underage girls, the lil` twist at the end was kind of unexpected but a lil` funny. Check out the video, you can see Heather B makin` a lil` cameo...

The Remix for "13 & Good" was produced by Kenny Parker & D-Square I believe, it`s alright but the LP version is definitely much better. "Build & Destroy" has KRS-One droppin` a few lyrical gems over the thumpin` drum beat that Kenny Parker provides. Once again for the Instrumental lovers the last track on this 12 inch is the "13 & Good [LP Instr.]".Definitely worth the listen so check it out y`all...

BooGie DoWn PRoDuCTioN`s "We iN THeRe" [12 iNCH]...

Back again with some more KRS-One, well actually some Boogie Down Productions to be more precise. This 12 inch features "We In There" a track from BDP`s CLaSSiC 1992 album "Sex & Violence", also my favorite BDP album. You also get the Remix that was flipped by A Tribe Called Quest`s Ali Shaheed Muhammad, actually I`d say it`s better than the LP Version. On The B-Side you`re blessed with "Feel The Vibe, Feel The Beat", a DoPe track that should`ve been added to the "Sex & Violence" album in my opinion. The last track on this 12 inch is the Instrumental for the "We In There [Rmx]". Do ya`self a favor & check out this 12 inch, you`ll be glad ya did...

KRS-One`s "ReTuRN Of The BooM BaP" [12 iNCH]...

Was listening to "Return Of The Boom Bap" (my favorite KRS-One album) earlier today. Just felt the urge to hear some good HiP HoP music, so naturally I dust`D off this CLaSSiC & cranked up the volume....LoL, I remember when the album first dropped I copped the cassette `cuz I didn`t have a CD player at the time. Played it so DaMn much in my Sony Walkman that the tape snapped:( that was a sad day for sure! I tried to splice it back together with some Scotch Tape, took a good 2 hours. Thought I did a good job til I placed it back in my bedroom stereo......ish just got all jammed up in the tape deck, had to pull it all out & in the process I snapped the tape a few more times. Needless to say I had to put in some work so I could cop another "Return Of The Boom Bap" tape....LoL, 2 weeks later KRS was back up in my Walkman:)

Anyways that was my lil` tale of the tape....LoL, now let`s get to this 12 inch shall we. Not only do ya get 2 great tracks from the `93 CLaSSiC album, but ya also get 2 Remixes, an Instrumental & an Acapella (or 'Thoughtapella' in this case). Mad Lion is featured on the Iron Lion Remix of "Return Of The Boom Bap", while Kenny Parker remixed "Mortal Thought". In my opinion the remixes are alright, but I still prefer the LP cut more. I guess it`s because I played the hell out of the album for years & just got so used to them. That & the fact that I didn`t heard the remixes until about 1997.....LoL, that`s when I finally copped the 12 inch. Either way I still DiG the album cuts, but the remixes are decent. So go `head & check it out for ya`self...

This 12 inch right here is for y`all smokers. Had to dust off this one, but it was well worth it indeed! I haven`t posted up anything from Mad Lion yet, so this`ll be a nice start. Unfortunately though, I`ve got a lil` case of that laziness once again.....LoL, so I`m gon` save Mad Lion`s story for another post, sorry y`all! Anyway both tracks on this 12 inch are great tunes, my favorite joint would have to be the last one, "Big Box Of Blunts [KRS-One Mix]". It`s not really all that different than the Vocal Mix, but I still DiG it a lot more...

It`s kind of funny, listening to this 12 inch really takes me back to my junior high school days. Back when I first started to puff on that GooD GReeN....LoL, tryin` to hide the red~eyes from my parents ("Oh I`m just tired mama..."). I remember watchin` the "Take It Easy" music video on Rap City (really DuG the graff` scenes), it got some good rotation back then. So go `head & kick back, roll up a lil` somethin` then check out the tunes...

It`s been 11 years & a few weeks since Big Pun`s passing (February 7, 2000), almost hard to believe that it`s been that long. HiP HoP`s definitely missing his presence, especially his humor! For those that are missin` him I figured I`d post up this mixtape by DJ O-Zone. It`s a decent selection of Pun tracks, even the lil` intermissions are pretty cool. So check it out & BuMP some Pun...

MoWeTT RyDeR`s "OPeRaTioN KiLL BaRBie" [MuSiC ViDeO]...

 Re-uPP`d LiNKs (06.24.2014)...

Now I realize that by `Net standards this is old news...LoL, but whatever! Gotta thank my homie G~NuT for this one y`all because honestly I hadn`t heard anything from this woman until he emailed me this video. All that I know about her now is that she`s from Atlanta, Georgia, she`s a model & also a rapper. You can peep her site www.mowettryder.com for more info`. Anyways the reason G~NuT sent it to me was because she`s DiSS`n his favorite female on the mic at the moment Nicki Minaj....LoL, gotta admit I was a lil` curious...

The video starts off with Mowett jumpin` out of a Lambo` with a shotgun chasin` down a Nicki Minaj look~alike all the while she`s bustin` shots at her....LoL, The look~alike just runs then eventually hits the dirt, that`s when the song starts. Now overall the song`s alright, Mowett can definitely spit. She does hit with a few nice lines here & there, honestly it would be kind of nice to seen these two battle it out -- but I doubt that`ll ever happen. Anyway I gotta say that there`s just somethin` entertaining about a honey with some BiG titties & a NyCe phat ass dancin` around wavin` some guns...LoL, go `head & check out the video. It`s in mp4 format so it should work with your i-Pods & what have you...

iLL BiLL`s "GaNGSTa RaP b/w HoW To KiLL A CoP" [12 iNCH]...

Was BuMP`n some tapes from my ol` college radio HiP HoP show collection, actual cassettes....LoL, this morning & one of the tracks that was present on a few of the tapes was Ill Bill`s "How To Kill A Cop". I really DiG the evil twist that he put on Redman`s "How To Roll A Blunt". Hearing it made me ask my boy DiRTy KooL AiD if he had the single, his collection is obese hippo~huge so I knew he had to have it. Luckily he did & he decided to rip the 12 inch for me so I could share it with y`all...

I`m not gon` go into a lot of detail about Ill Bill today, I`ll save that for another post `cuz I`m feelin` a lil` lazy...LoL, anyway for those that are clueless I`ll give ya a quick rundown. Ill Bill is producer/ rapper Necro`s brother, he`s a part of the group Non Phixion along with DJ Eclipse, Sabac & Goretex. Together they dropped 2 albums; "The Future Is Now" in 2002 & "The Green" in 2004. On the solo tip he has released 2 albums; "What`s Wrong With Bill?" in 2004 & "The Hour Of Reprisal" in 2008. More recently he`s been working with the group La Coka Nostra consisting of members Everlast, DJ Lethal, Slaine & Danny Boy...

Now let`s get back to this DoPe 12 Inch. "Gangsta Rap" is the first joint on here, this song was also on one or two of the mixtapes I was listening to this morning. It`s definitely another iLL track to BuMP! Sure it`s only one verse & a hook, but the shit is DoPe!! I love the eerie Micheal Myers "Halloween"~type piano & the dark~grimy beat -- Necro concocted the perfect match for Bill`s lyrics...

As previously mentioned above, "How To Kill A Cop" is Ill Bill`s evil & comedic twist on Redman`s "How To Roll A Blunt". Again Necro provides the beat & does a great job puttin` his spin on the already CLaSSiC track while Ill Bill drops the do`s & don`t's of cop~killin`. Ice-T must be lovin` this joint....LoL, do ya`self a favor & check it out...

PuDGee Tha PHaT BaSTaRD`s "HiSToRy b/w MoNeY DoN`T MaKe... [12 iNCH]"...

This 12 inch is on the unofficial tip, bootleg if ya will. You get 2 tracks on this one, the better joint (my opinion of course) is the first. "Money Don`t Make The World Stop [Rmx]" is a decent collabo` effort with features from the rugged M.O.P., D-Nice, 'Ghetto Millionaire' Royal Flush & a lil` intro from DJ Funkmaster Flex. Now "History" on the flip~side is ok, but honestly it`s not anything to write to your wifey about....LoL, anyway check it out for the first track you won`t be disappointed...

PuDGee Tha PHaT BaSTaRD`s "On The ReGuLaR [12 iNCH PRoMo]"...

Continuing on the Pudgee tip, here`s another 12 inch from the Phat Bastard. This joint was released in 1995 on Perspective Records. "On The Regular" is a decent track produced by Nick Wiz, it`s got a nice laid~back vibe to it. The only difference between the Dirty LP Version & the DJ S&S Version is that on the later DJ S&S does a lil` intro on the track, similar to what you`d hear on a mixtape. On the B-Side you have "The Regular [Rmx]" & "The Regular [Rmx New Vox]" which are basically just remixes of "On The Regular" & in all honesty there isn`t too much of a diference between the 2 remixes. I prefer the LP Version overall, but the Remixes are pretty nice as well so go `head & check `em all out...

SaH-B`s "SuMMa DaY" b/w "SoMe oL` SaH-B SHiT" [12 iNCH]...

W`ud~uP y`all? Hope all is still good for ya! Today I`ve got some tunes from an over~look`D female emcee named Sah-B a.k.a. Sakinah Britton
'comin` live & direct from Newark, The Bricks'. Aside from her appearances on a few Lords Of The Underground tracks like "No Pain", "Flow On (New Symphony)", "Hennessey Pt. II" & this 12 inch I don`t know if she`s done anything else. And quite honestly that`s all I really know of Sah-B, so if ya can school me on her go right ahead & do so, don`t be shy!!!

This 12 inch was released in 1994 on Reprise Records.
My homie DiRTy KooL AiD ripped it for me so I could share it with y`all. Thanks once again, much appreciated! Now I`m sure that I`m not the only one out there that`s wishin` that the good ol` days of Summer would hurry up & get here, honestly I`m really sick of the Winter! Especially after returning back to the cold from my honeymoon in Montego Bay, Jamaica....LoL

Anyways the
"Summa Day" track (peep the video here, embedding was disabled:) on this 12 inch will have ya reminiscing on them good ol` relaxin` sunny Summer days for sure. This is definitely a joint that everyone can relate to; Sah-B raps about broken down AC`s, heat frustration, folks rockin` that fresh gear for the Summer, fireworks, backyard BBQ`s & so on. It kind of takes me back to the Summer breaks I`d have from school while I was in junior high...LoL

The remaining track on this 12 inch "Some Ol` Sah-B Shit" is on that braggin`/skill flexin`~tip. Marley Marl provides the beat (he actually produced both tracks on this 12") with a jazzy horn sample & some nice cuts & scratches while Sah-B spits with some good ol` emcee ruggedness. I definitely suggest that ya check out this 12 inch, ya shouldn`t be disappointed...

SPiCe-1`s "LeT iT Be KNoWn EP"...

Click here for the "In My Neighborhood" video

This isn`t really a new post more of a re~up, either way it`s some rare Spice-1 for y`all listening pleasure. He dropped this EP sometime in 1991 on Triad Records just before his 1992 self~titled album with Jive Records. I`d consider it somewhat of a demo, that`s probably why you`re really only getting 2 tracks ("Ghetto Thang" & "Let It Be Known") that aren`t on his "Spice-1" album...

The funky beats are produced by crazy slept~on Bay Area producer Ant Banks. Always felt that Banks` beats really complimented Spice`s style, guess that`s why I DiG Spice-1`s earlier work a lot more than the ish he`s puttin` out now. Anyways, "Ghetto Thang" has Spice droppin` "the DoPe shit" over the backdrop provided by Ant Banks` beat while Shorty B rocks the Guitar. Now "Let It Be Known" is pure braggin` rhymes & tough talkin` over a nice P~FuNK soundin` track. Check it out, definitely worth a listen. This folder contains the original rip from my boy LiNT`d PoCKeTs & also the mp3`s that I converted, any issues let me know...
